You might think about putting some Eco Carpet or turf or something on the bottom. Those gaps look big enough your food is just going to fall through. get something that will allow the water through but leave the food behind. what kind of screening did you use? the gaps in it look bigger than...
Jabba is none to happy about me trying to pick him up, or if I have to put anything in his cage he has not seen before. He tried to attack the towel I was using to get him out the first time. Like the others have said go at your chams pace, but don't give up and you cant back off just because...
I am using plexiglass on the sides of my enclosure to help with humidity. As stated you dont want it on the top of the enclosure as it will block out the UV rays you want to get through.
Why do you have the drip pan in the cage. I would not want the standing water in the cage. They look like awesome setups and I really want to hook up a mist king rather than the setup I have right now. Anyway that is the only thing I noticed. Great job.
The frames are built and the screening will go in tonight. Once the screen is on I will attach the plexi on the sides to the top 18-20 inches of the enclosure. This should help with humidity while allowing for good air flow. I am still debating on what material to use for the bottom of the cage...
Last night I stopped and picked up my frame building supplies. The plan is to construct a 48 tall be 24 deep by 36 wide house for my veiled chameleon. I have started with the following materials. 4 x 48 inch screen kits and 3 x 36 inch screen kits. See pictures below for type.
I picked up some...
Interesting feedback.
I am building him a new cage. It will be 48h 24d 36w. I knew he needed a new cage as he got bigger.
As for the temps. I have been reading the forums and 72-75 is what I found for him with the upper 60's at night. He basks in an area at 85+. What temps are you...
Mine is about 9 months old and is 8 inches from nose to base of tail. I did not measure with his taile fully extended. The vet says at 3-4 years old he should be about a foot long in body length, again not including the tail.
Great news. I took him to the vet today and after some ointment and antibiotics he will be fine. The doctor thinks he cut it on something and it just spread from there. He is going to be fine. It also means I get to hold him more with is cool.

My veiled hisses and opens his mouth at me all the time when I mist him. I think he is just trying to show me he is boss. Sometimes he does it when I reach in to clean his cage as well. Then he goes and hides. He is just showing off for you. Be impressed, be very impressed. :D
I thought I would start a thread where I will be posting my enclosure building process. I purchased an 18x18x30 screen setup about 8 months ago and I decided I wanted something a bit bigger and with more features.
The plan is to build a 30"wide by 24" deep by 48" high enclosure for Jabba...
I picked up a full size baking sheet at the local resturaunt store in my town. I built a lift and slid it under my 18 by 18 cage and drilled two holes in the bottom of the cage where the water drains. I will try and get pics posted this week.
The new cage I am building will have a drain...
My veiled will eat as many as I give him and then he goes and chews on the plants. I have regulated his feeding to 5-7 every other day. It seems some of these guys are like dogs and will just keep eating if you let them. Good thing they have us to help keep them on track.
Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - He is a veiled and I have had him about 8 months
Handling - I tend to leave him in his cage, he is a hisser and bitter so not a lot of handling.
Feeding - I feed him about 5-7 large crickets every other day. They are dusted with the calcium powder and are...
I came home yesterday and found Jabba had a large cut on his tail. He is a one year old veiled. Other than this he is perfectly healthy. He is eating well and climbs all over his cage. I would love your thoughts.
Thank you for the feedback. I am gonig to hang the pothos from the top tonight and that will give him a plant all the way at the top of the enclosure. Thanks again.
