    Amazing wax worms…

I am extremely aware of this and as diligent and responsible as I can be with them. The poor bees have it tough enough without adding another reason for them to struggle to survive.

    Waxworm breeding

I’ve had to rescreen some windows and enclosures and so I have some left over. You can buy rolls of screening at any Home Depot, Lowe’s or other similar store - even Walmart used to carry it. Don’t get the fiberglass though…they can eat their ways thru that too. Last year I read an article about...

    August 2025 Photo Contest

If Spooble is anything like any of mine, you’ll only ever get to take pics of one side at a time. They never ever give me a full face pic.

Am I doing something wrong? - veiled handling

https://www.chameleonforums.com/blogs/building-trust-with-your-chameleon.2396/ This will help, if you haven’t already read it. It takes much time and patience. Hold the cup out to where your chameleon can see the food inside moving around (support your arm with something) and don’t make eye...

    Waxworm breeding

Yup, that’s how it’s done. The worms will make quick work of eating thru the paper towel though and make their great escape. I had tried cotton fabric and they were eating thru that. Now I use several layers of screening in the lid, and the little buggers sometimes still can force their way thru...

    Tail Tuesday

What does one do when they can’t sleep? Well, getting curly whirly pics to revive this thread of course. ;) Mango - right in front by the door, so he can come out as soon as it opens. Bart - in his all time favorite spot in his money tree Stella - sleeping directly in front of her...

Need help getting temp down and humidity up

Sure, anytime. I am assuming that your uvb is a T5 with either a ReptiSun 5.0 or Arcadia 6%. If so, then you want your basking branch to be about 8-9” below your lights. Do be careful about having your enclosure in front of the window. The heat can come in and get him super hot.

Need help getting temp down and humidity up

Day time is good, but at night since your temps aren’t below at least 68F, you don’t want to boost your humidity. While it is ideal to do so at night, not all of us can achieve low enough temps to do so without risking causing respiratory infection. I’m in Florida and it just isn’t possible for...

Need help getting temp down and humidity up

Hi and welcome! :) What are your temps and humidity levels at during the day and at night? Can you post some pics of your enclosure?

    Gaping

Is he holding his nose in the air at all? Have you noticed if he’s making any popping or other noises while breathing? Is he shedding? Chameleons do yawn and I often see one of mine do it…or she’s getting ready to try to bite me (another thing she often does). When shedding, they will gape and...

    Help sick panther

I’m so very sorry that Odin passed. 🥺 All too often by the time our chameleons show that they are sick, it can be too late to help them. May your sweet boy rest in peace. I don’t know if you might want to know what was wrong and have a necropsy done. If so, you’ll need to call your vet asap. If...

    How to stop this?

Look to the end of my looonngg part 2. There’s a lot of places on line to get info about keeping chameleons, but very few to get the correct info. Of course, the forum is one and as you see, gives personalized feedback, individual help, understanding, etc...

Until we meet again, my sweet Beastie dog 🐶💔

Thanks chamily for all of your sweet and kind words. Beastie was the last of my furred critters, so there’s none to hug and hold when sad now. Poor beardie Spike is trying to carry the load, but he can’t help but just be a head-bobbing fool.

    How to stop this?

Here is part two. Hopefully work won’t call me away again. Cage Info: Cage Type - Screen. Lighting - Dual bulbs. ReptiSun 5.0 UVB with amplified heat. What do you mean, “amplified”? Daylight Blue Basking light. Every morning I turn them on, every night I turn them off. You want a 12 hour...

    How to stop this?

You will want to toss out the screw in uvb bulb. You can definitely use the dual light dome fixture. In some of mine I have basking bulb on one side and plant bulb on the other…or I leave that side empty. https://www.chameleonforums.com/sponsors/?tag=food  I’m not a fan of putting...

    How to stop this?

Yay! I’m back and will pick up where I left off. :) I only listed a couple of on line insect vendors who sell variety or combo packs, but there are others. If you have just the one insectivore, the variety packs make sense. Do check out the forum sponsors for your buggy needs. They are great...

    How to stop this?

My feedback will be bold and I’ll be breaking this into two sections to be more digestible. Your Chameleon - Veiled Chameleon, Male, and about 7-8 months old. While it’s not always easy to tell, going from his casque size, I’m thinking he’s much younger…like about 4 months old. Either that, or...
