She said that in her opinion if in a month she hasn't laid to come back and that in like two weeks she would start looking for signs on going to the ground or hanging around low in the cage to signal she wants to lay. She didn't say exact size but said they were still a bit difficult to...
Ok so based on what you're saying I think she is in the receptive period now, she has had a major shift in color display with lots of darker green spotting and some blue streaking on her veil. She is also displaying a brighter yellow green all over too. She seems to be restless too. Her lay bin...
"Lighting - I have the reptisun 5.0 compact UVB bulb and household bulb sitting on top of the cage. His lights are on a timer from 7 am to 8 pm"
What do you mean by household bulb? Do you mean just a regular incandescent bulb? I would look into getting an actual heat basking bulb. Also I would...
So you think this is just her getting ready to lay? How long does it usually take from the time they form eggs to the time she will actually lay? I do have an extra large plastic critter keeper in one corner of the cage. It is like 8-10 inches deep with some dirt I keep damp so it will hold a...
Your Chameleon - 7-9 month old female veiled. I have had her almost 2 months.
Handling - Haven't been able to touch her since I got her really. she lets me pet her tail and back but not much else.
Feeding - she get 3-4 super worms every other day and 8-12 medium crickets daily. All dusted with...
Wow that's a lot of superworms! I'll take to DH and see what he thinks. I don't know where I would store 1000 superworms. Hahaha.
Thanks for the advice guys, I was concerned for a minute. I was thinking I was going to get my girl sick.
Do super worms carry more of a risk of parasites than other bugs? I buy mine from petco. I think the brand is "vita-bugs" they are my chameleons favorite. She gets 4 every other day.
I haven't seen anything moving. I just know the black spots appeared overnight. I have never seen mites on a reptile before so I didn't quite know what to look for.
Your Chameleon - 7-9 month old female veiled. I have had her almost 2 months.
Handling - Haven't been able to touch her since I got her really. she snaps if I try to touch more than her tail.

Ok so not to obsess but my chameleon has been opening her mouth a lot! Like under any light any time she is basking even at temps around 78*/80*. However, her poop is normal, her urate is white, she is inhaling bugs (about 12 medium crickets a day, and the occasional super worm every other day)...
This is fantastic. I will say as a former Persmart employee I can tell you what policy is and if the animals in the care of the store aren't properly cared for it is definitely the fault of the store and the employees not of policy. I saw the store I worked for spend $3000 to save a turtle that...
Right now the highest basking position is 3 inches from the top and the bulb is sitting on the cage just to the left of the high point in the cage. From the next highest basking point it's maybe 6-8 inches from the bulb.
I don't trust the pet stores too much because may idiot can walk in and be a body to follow their instructions. I have it resting on the cage now, in a zoo med deep dome fixture. should I put it on a stand/hang it?
Ok I will raise her primary basking/uvb bulb a bit up off the cage to lower the temp. The two additional lights I added have a basking temp of like 78/80 she is digging that, but also is going back to the hotter main bulb too. Every one (meaning the petstore but grain of salt right?!) keeps...
I have a dripper (the zoo med little dripper). I have it places over a plastic vine of leaves in a corner. The guy at the pet store told me to place is over a plastic plant to help form drips easier(?) and that vine sits above a live umbrella plant, I have seen her lick the water right out of...
Ok now I am the most paranoid person ever and I know that but I think something might actually be wrong. She is sitting under her basking light holding her mouth open! She seems alert, she has eaten two super worms today, she isn't breathing heavy or anything just holding her mouth open while...
