I have 3 sides pretty much already covered to keep the mist/humidity in. Where the set up is theres no way to close any doors as its in a gallery/common type area thats between two bedrooms. I was actually contemplating shutting down the 3rd zone for the heat, have them use electric heaters...
In about 5-6 weeks we're having our master bath completely renovated...a major concern I have is the exposure to construction dust within the house. As the heat kicks on and dust gets into and sent through the duct systems, its inevitable that some dust will get all over...just trying to think...
Pretty simple...got a couple of aquarium vales from PetCo, little silicon, empty rice container and made a dual drip set up...each are set up above each plant area.
Got him to eat his first Dubia...I took the largest one of the bunch and grabbed it by the edge with the feeder tweezers...again at first wanted nothing to do with it...but then I turned it upside down exposing the light color of its belly and wiggling legs...that tongue whipped out real quick...
I have two kinds in my enclosure...I made a few where they can climb vertically and ran some vines across...the other one, G&G has various size rings(or wreaths) made of sticks, slid in a deli container, fits perfect. I'm sure other places like Hobby Lobby have em too.
Something else I do too is put them in a clean bucket while I'm cleaning the small tank I keep them in..while they are in the bucket I put some gutload in there...let em feast, and keep em in there for a few hrs so the bucket gets dirty...small tank stays a little cleaner for a little while...
Right now I've been keeping the Dubia in that round deli container in the upper left, it literally hangs 3" below that triangulated branch I made...when hes over there he def sees them and even starts to get that "I'm about to eat" wiggle but then nothing lol.
I have 3 of those I made across the back and then 2 random cups mixed in with all the foliage...hes a small carpet in a big enclosure...lotta places to him to stop n grab a bite to eat lol
Another thing to consider is cleaning the tank they're in...I get about 50-100 at a clip...Flunker's Gut Load and shredded carrots, with a small sponge kept wet, piece of egg crate...BUT what I also do is clean their container every other day...the excrement they produce is crazy, I can't even...
I even tried putting 1 cricket in with 5 small Dubia...I never seen him so determined, ran up the vine to get that cricket...then sat there staring t them...hes usually good for 2 crickets back to back...too funny...maybe I can try dusting the Dubia, so they "look" sorta like same color as...
Anyone else experience this? Picked up 100 small Dubia for my Carpet(male) and he just stares at them with a body language like he wants to try it but not sure lol...he'll eat crickets no prob...have them in different feeding cups...any tricks to get em to eat Dubia?
Searched around for this topic, lot of old threads talking about injecting liquids into their mouth...but I'm curious if there is anything that could be added to the reservoir and let it mist out...this may be a silly idea so I'll blame it on night shift and sleep deprivation lol.
