I actually own one of each... they both work great. I'm not sure where you get that the climist is half the price though? Both starter kits are $99.99.
You're only 4 days in. Changing your chameleon's feeding habits will not happen overnight. you need to be very patient as this can take weeks or even months. Some chameleons will flat out refuse to cup feed and like to hunt. You can have him hunt his normal staple feeders and try hand/cup...
Hunger striking! It's normal...happens when they get bored of food. Mix it up, try some dubias, silkworms phoenix worms to mix it up. Hornworms are known to get them out of a hunger strike but don't feed too many, they can cause diarrhea due to high water content.
In either case, if it turns out to be a female and you were sold a boy, you should contact the shop/breeder/show you got him from and they should be able to swap them out or provide a refund. Or at least a reputable one would. I'm sticking with male until I see further pictures proving otherwise!
I can't be 100% positive based on this picture...but I'm leaning male. It's tough at this age as they can change so much so quickly...I say i'm about 70/30...leaning male...
If you can provide some additional profile view pictures with tail extended, that would help :)
I would even say get off the mealworms completely. They have a very hard shell and they have trouble digesting them. Impaction can happen and it can be a big no no. I would toss the mealworms and switch to super worms for an alternative. Still, treat super worms as a snack, not an everyday...
Beautiful Boy! I would say about a year old is an accurate guess.
As far as your misting...you said every 6 hours...The mister should not be going off during the night while he's sleeping. Mist between 7am-7pm when the lights are on, try every 3-4 hours. Poop looks fine, Urates are sometimes...
I agree that it looks like a burn. As far as the coloration, it's typical for them to stress a little when moved to a different enclosure, it's all new, usually a few days or even weeks. I would say that you should really get the cage off the ground. Being low to the ground stresses them as...
Chameleon Paradise has some nice ones with those colors. Keep in mind most breeders/websites will show chameleons with their fired up colors. It's very typical for a lot to be green with some blues and darker reds when resting.
Yep, as stated by others, get an infrared temp gun and point it directly at your Chameleon's branch by the basking spot. I got one for $8 with free shipping on Ebay and it works great compared to the $50 I got locally. If it is indeed to hot, adjust the wattage of the bulb you're using.
As trace said, this is completely normal. By puffing up, there's more skin that's exposed to the sun to warm up faster and absorb more sunlight. If they're in the sun long enough and need to cool down, you'll notice they'll "slender" back down and usually start getting lighter in color to start...
