Yeah not a good idea, get rid of it. As someone already said, some put them in front of mirrors for them to fire up for a pretty picture. But it would constantly stress them (even if its' not obvious) to have one sitting in their enclosure.
Yeah I usually order them 500-1000 at a time. two feed 2 chameleons and 2 geckos, I tend to order them smaller than what I need them so I don't end up with a bunch of adults at the end of their life cycle. Cleaning is unfortunately that....cleaning. it's a mess, they stink, but my chameleons...

"The Chameleon is like an ordinary lizard that got all tricked out by the old guy in the James Bond movies that hands out the little spy toys."
I love that video.
For my misting system, I use distilled water. Otherwise the misting nozzles will get clogged up with mineral deposits over time and they're a pain in the butt to clean/replace. I don't see the harm in using this if you are indeed going to be using tap water though.
Yep, definitely a male, not female. You can tell by the spurs on the hind legs (the little white bumps on the back of the feet). Looks perfectly healthy, not overweight at all. Rule of thumb as they're growing, feed them as much as they're willing to eat!
So a couple things...switch to a linear UVA/UVB lighting fixture. Those CFL UVB bulbs are garbage and won't help your chameleon much. Assuming your climate allows you, switch to a VERTICAL screen cage, not glass. Being in a glass enclosure can cause respiratory problems for chameleons. If...
The fact that they're both on the exact same part of his arms lead me to believe they're burns from basking. Where do you live? 100w bulb in the middle of summer might be too hot and causing him to burn. Also...what kind of blue bulb did you "upgrade" to? Panthers just need a basic incandescent...
They're not the easiest for sure, and they're absolutely NOT one you can just dive into without doing extensive research and planning (see bearded dragons). But you're doing the right thing by gathering all the information you can, tips, setup suggestions etc. I had a VERY hard time when I got...
Oooh this is a tough one...it could go either way for me...coloration says male to me, but I don't see a clear bulge. typically when there's a "dip" after the vent, it's a female...hmmm give us another picture in a few weeks!
Don't see it as fighting at all, just difference of opinions (don't you wish people would do this? unlike with Politics? YEEESH). My very first chameleon swallowed a piece of a dried root from one of the plants in my first setup, he made it, but I ended up with a very expensive vet bill. Ever...
I tend to always use a mix of Pothos, Scheffleras (umbrella plants) and some other random plant. I typically throw in a fake plant or two as well just for variety. Pothos are super hardy, I never even water mine in the cages, they get enough water from the misting systems. I don't usually have...
Sure thing! Make sure you post baby pictures! I personally like Panthers , but VEILED Chameleons ARE THE CUTEST BABIES EVER! Panthers look like goofy od shaped sloth lizard things...haha.
