Thanks for the replies guys. He just seems more curious than anything. He will not come out when my wife opens the door. His cage is a 18x18x36 with plenty of vines and fake/real plants. I'm guessing he's in the 4-5 month range. I attached an updated pic of him basking from over the weekend.
Hey all. My male veiled has been acting unusual the past week. Every time I open his cage door to clean or to feed him, he comes running to the door and climbs out onto me. Every time! If I'm out of his reach, he will anchor himself to a branch and reach out to grab me. He then just climbs up to...
Veileds are very adaptable to humidity. Generally anywhere between 40-70% is good. Mist her 2-3 times a day and she should be fine. As for food, I wouldn't worry about over feeding. My guy will eat over a dozen crickets some days.
I recommend the Climist misting system from Coastal Silkworms. It's only $100 shipped. It also comes with a zip drip valve built in. Very comparable to Mistking for less money.
I got my new Nosy Be from The Chameleon Company. Fair prices and Jim was very helpful and quick to respond. You have to ask them for an updated availability though.
I just bought the Climist misting system from Coastal Silkworms. The system is reasonably priced at $100 with shipping. It's easily put together with basic tools and supplies. You'll need a 5 gallon bucket, a drill with a 9/16" bit, and tube cutters. They also offer a corner installment bracket...
What is the temp in his basking area? Sometimes they turn dark to absorb more heat. The dark color can also mean stress. He could just be getting used to his new cage and environment. I would advise against handling him until he settles in more.
Don't drill the glass. In previous posts you were saving money for a Rudis. Use that money to buy a screen enclosure for your veiled. He will quickly outgrow that small glass terrarium in a matter of months. I've had my veiled for a little over a month now and he's already more than doubled in...
Watch your humidity in the glass enclosure. Too much moisture can easily lead to an upper respiratory infection. How are you draining/collecting the water from the dripper and mistings?
Ok so over 24 hours later and he's still a very dark greenish brown. He's also very skittish. My veiled was very colorful and sociable from the day I got him. So this is like night and day to me. Is this pretty normal for a newly acquired panther?
They didn't have any on their website when I was looking either. Shoot Jim an email and ask what he has available. I just told him that I was looking for a male Nosy Be and he got back to me quickly. Very good guy.
I just received my first Panther today! He's a Nosy Be sired by Atlas from The Chameleon Company. He's still pretty dark but will hopefully start to settle down and lighten up soon.
Ok that's what I figured. I was going to leave the divider up either way just to be on the safe side. No need to take a chance on causing undue stress.
