Awesome setups thanks for sharing. Do you have to do anything to keep them from getting too hot? Or do you have a better environment than freezing or boiling like me hahaha.
Ya one thing to watch with Jackson's... Bill also mentions seeing more temporal gland infections as the weather gets warmer. This would not be an issue with the furcifer group
Our climate is pretty similar (northern Kentucky/Cincinnati). The night time lows in May should be in the low 60s and would be acceptable. I would be more worried about the daytime going over 85 especially if in direct sun. You could try to put the cage in a mostly shady location and just...
What are the night time lows in your area? We usually get down into the low 60s even during summer. I think daytime highs over 85 would also be a concern for Jacksons.
Well the sample cages they recommend have literally one vine of pothos and nothing else. No surfaces to catch dew. No places to get out of the UV. Sad.
Does he fire up if you put him in front of a mirror or react to your camera/phone? My nosy be is a dark cryptic green at rest and then fires up light blue.
I couldn't disagree more. When it harms the animals it's not just a matter of differing opinions. It may be possible to forcefully train a veiled or panther to partake in this unnatural practice by dehydrating them into submission, if you attempt the drinking glass method with a less hardy or...
@natzberg Their arguments for the drinking glass method are backed with zero data except for the single experience of the founding mod. If our goal is to bring husbandry closer to the naturalistic world then we should replicate how they thrive in nature. I have never seen a drinking glass in a...
The goal of night misting is to raise the night time humidity in conjunction with fogging to keep the chameleon from losing moisture through respiration. It is also just as important to mist a few minutes before the lights turn on in morning so the chameleon can drink the morning dew.
Don't get me started with that sub reddit... It is infuriating and I am banned from fighting with them haha. They are complete morons forcing a chameleon to become so dehydrated it has no choice but to drink from a glass unnaturally. It really pisses me off how many animals they have likely...
Yes speaking from reef keeping experience the only way to get zero TDS water is with a 4 stage RODI filter. Wouldn't be necessary for chameleons but should keep the mist nozzles in mint condition.
