I would take all connections about not the masthead tip and let pump turn on and blow anything you have in lines out. Then put back on and let pump run with out tip. Then put tip back on and see if that works. How old is misthead

If you use filtered water like distilled or ro water won't happen. If your using unfiltered water you'll have to clean regularly and replace sooner. I have some heads that have been running for 1.5 years with no cogs. But I only us ro water
