Sorry no this is a sign that something isn't right. Chameleons shouldn't sleep at all during the day. I would suggest checking your setup to make sure everything is correct and most likely contacting a vet to make sure your chameleon isn't sick.
@MissyMoo You most certainly have a male. The best method to determine sex is with the bulge, or lack there of at the base of their tail. Your boy has a well defined bulge as you can see in the picture below.
