so I understand that chameleons can't hear like we do but people have said that they can't hear at all which confuses me because whenever red (my cham) hears a dog bark he gets all defensive so can someone just explain to me chameleon "hearing"

I just got my cham some horn worms and he will not find feed yet but I know that they are very sticky and you can't place them on branches how to i feed them to my cham?
