TD,
You might do an internet search and look at online provider's sample packs for your little buddy. By going this route at first, you can figure out exactly what he'll eat without buying the proverbial cow and go from there. With my veiled Lucky, he'll eat any worm you throw at him. He ate...
Good info. on misters here:

I've got a Mist-king and love it. No problems to date. If it crapped out at this point, I'd buy another. Easy, simple and nearly bulletproof if set up correctly, as per instructions. I also understand...
Great shots! Looks like you have a wonderful camera set up that agrees with you. I've though about getting a good quality digital camera, but not sure my other half would support another hobby of mine.
If you have a 5.0 reptisun, that will be fine for lighting. Don't add more lighting /heat if your enclosure is over 100*. 80-90*for basking is fine. Make sure you have varied bioclimatic zones for your cham. Figure out your ambient temp. (room temp.) and go from there. If you want more light...
I see spurs on the back feet. Veiled males have spurs on their back feet. When I get a chance. I'll shoot you a pic of Lucky's spurs. They're very prominent and visible as a MALE VEILED.
You can also try hornworms to boost hydration. Get them big and fat on red, yellow or orange bell peppers and let him go for it! I've never had a cham that could pass up a hornworm.
Boscoct,
Glad you found us. There's a wealth of information here that will keep you enthralled! Seriously, there's so much here that you could read for 24/7 for a month and not cover it all. My advice to your question, "How hard/easy is it to care for a chameleon?" is to click on each of the...
Never thought of cantaloupe. Should be great. Lots of moisture to hydrate your little guy. Here's a previous thread on it:

OMG! Those hornworms must be made of gold! Go here. It's $8 for 25 smalls. Feed them off judiciously (one/ two a day) and they will last you a couple of weeks.

B&S,
Welcome. I've attached a link to the resources section regarding food and nutrition. It's at the top of the home page. This link is well researched and should provide you with a jumping off point. Glad you found us.

Misting schedules will vary, depending on heat and humidity in the home. Currently, I mist x3 per day at 5 min increments and all is well. Lucky is well hydrated and drinks freely from the leaves at the afternoon and evening misting. The humidity in the enclosure fluctuates between 70-90%...
If you haven't tried supers, give it a shot. They're "super easy." Do a google search to find a lot of info. I keep a beetle box, a worm box and a feeder cup that I gut load. They're amazingly easy to breed.
Variety is the spice of life. Try dubias, superworms and a host of other varieties listed on the site. Mealworms are not good for him all the time. There's plenty of others that you may try. Just do a search for feeders on the site, or take a look here:
