What kind of bug is this

To me it looks like a juvenile potato bug or Jerusalem cricket. https://www.google.com/search?q=pictures+of+juvenile+potato+bug&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwi0sODzxOLVAhUB6mMKHeCWB88QsAQIJw&biw=1093&bih=446#imgrc=wwSLZNEv1QNNTM...

How To Ask For Help / New Member Chameleon Information

rainbowmealworms.com is my go to as they are in CA and get to me pretty quickly. Depending on where your located, you might do some checking, or someone here might have a good line on them. One of the site's sponsors may be closer to you. I've gotten a couple "whoopsies" from them, but they've...

How To Ask For Help / New Member Chameleon Information

No experience with Silks, but Lucky can't get enough hornworms. I usually order a cup a month (24 smalls) and feed him one every other day, or so. The horns are great for hydration and the blue/green coloration is irresistible to him. They usually come in pretty small, so I leave them at room...

How To Ask For Help / New Member Chameleon Information

Senior Chief, Good call on a Mist-King. I've had mine from the beginning and haven't had any problems with it. If it crapped out at this point, I'd buy another. I run one head in a 24"x24"x48" set up. The plants and Lucky get all the water they want. You might start with one head and if you...

Senior Chief, Glad to see you've found the site. You might check out Repti-Cal's Herptivite for a good vitamin supplement: https://www.amazon.com/Rep-Cal-SRP00300-Herptivite-Multivitamin-Supplement/dp/B00BS96HRM/ref=sr_1_sc_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1502861978&sr=8-2-spell&keywords=reptcal+herptivite...

    Diy misting system help.

Looks like typical 3/4" hose fitting on the inlet and outlet to the pump. You'll need an adapter to hook into your 1/4" push fittings and go from there.

Baby veiled wants too much heat?

Raise the heat lamp, lower the perch, or get a lower wattage bulb. 85* is what you're shooting for. Any more and you may encounter burning your little guy. I wouldn't want to take the chance and wind up with burns.

    Too big?

I wouldn't want her to give it a try. If you come out and find her mangled in the wire, or caught up in it... If it were me, I wouldn't chance it.

    Chameleon eating weird stuff!

Be cognizant of his surroundings and go from there. You are fortunate in that he is curious enough to try things out. However, you will need to watch him like a hawk.

    Sticky spit...

Great article. My son was amazed that Lucky's spit is as viscous as honey.

New to Reptiles - Considering a Chameleon

A few members/sponsors here sell their baby chameleons when their ready to go approx. 4 mo +/-. You can check in the forums/sponsor page on who's got what right now. Cost is substantially more for a panther vs. a veiled. Depends on what you want. Plenty of info here to research each species and...

    Sleeping too early?

I concur w/ above. Lucky is usually in his spot or close to it by 1700-1730 on a daily basis. He's up at 0630 (lights on) and then asleep by 1800ish or so as the lights go out. Try adjusting your timer to the season and see if improvement is made. You might fill out the "how to ask for help"...

Veiled Chameleon - All info appreciated...

LW, Yes to all of the above posts; Sage advice. I've had my male veiled for 2 1/2 years and find him extremely rewarding. There's a lot that goes into proper set up, nutrition and occasional maintenance, but he is truly a member of the family. He is loved and admired by all who come to visit us...

Who cares for your chams on vacation?

Just got back from vacation. Broke down the set up and hauled it to a friends house along with Lucky in his "travel case." Left instructions for my buddy as to his feeding schedule and all worked out fine. Plus, I was able to deep clean his enclosure a little early and replaced the dilapidated...
