Yes they do seem to be the fynbos type but there are some differences with these guys. They might be a new colour type. The pics I took were quite bad quality but when I'm back down there I'll upload plenty of nice pictures. These guys are bright and maybe even brighter than some of the normal...
Thats most definitely a young male, he has a slender body compared to females and theres a definite tail bulge i can see in the 4th or 5th pic :)
You have some of the nicest cape dwarfs in your garden, much different to the ones Ive seen in Hermanus.
Do you actually have a lot of natural...
Hey Chris my word Jimbo was looking good in those pics.
We spoke today but just to let you know Roxy is doing really good and its always good to update her here on your thread, I should take some pics of her and upload them up here for everyone to see.
She looked so cute when she was...
Hey Chippy, so sorry to hear about the accident, but like its always said, accidents DO happen.
From your avatar I can see that you have some sort of bradypodion. I hope he (from the pic it actually looks like a girl) will turn out fine.
Did you find the chameleon somewhere around where...
I am herping in the western cape in december and will take pics of the different habitats for bradypodion pumilum. Their habitat ranges quite a bit, from open areas with shrubs and long grass along side the coast to deep closed canopy areas.
I used to have a load of pics but it was on my...
Very nice! :) I really would like to organise to get a trio for myself into South Africa sometime. They are top on my list of chameleons to keep.
How much would you pay for a trio like yours there in the U.S?
Also I hope your females do produce viable eggs :) Dont forget to keep...
An incubator is something you should of got prepared upon the initial mating. From what you've said it seems she'll lay those eggs in no time. You'll need to get an incubator quick, you'll need to leave it running for a day to make sure it isn't faulty either because, faulties do happen easily...
Hey there Kanej.
How much would you be willing to sell for? I wouldn't mind maybe getting some more babies. Send me a pm if you like or I can reply here on the thread.
-Tyrone.
_Also I'm probably the only South African member who still frequents this forum. A lot of the south africans that...
Glad to supply info from what I know :)
Sorry Laurie I was thinking of posting for the transvaalense but forgot lol!
The thing is with those bradypodions is that they are found in limpopo and mpumalanga those 2 provinces are found closer to the midlands but still not very close to the...
South africa has many different climates, not just one. Remember these chams are from the midlands of natal where the rainy season is in summer not winter. Winter days are warm, often above 20 degrees C and night temperatures frequently go below zero with snow regularly illuminating the peaks...
We don't seem to be on the same page then Laurie.
Yes you may have CITES permits for these chameleons and such and such. But where did the original pumilum come from? I don't remember ever reading that there might have been a time where a group were legally collected from the wild and legally...
I can go with you on that point! :) the only thing I find sad is that the people actually keeping the indegenous chameleons are not keeping them properly, they seem to all keep them in wooden cages for snakes.
But also the thing is not every south african has chameleons in their backyard...
Yeah I must agree with Monzon and I'm not sure about your comment Dean. I mean your 1.2 that are coming, laws have been broken for you to have that oppurtunity. I have nothing against you keeping them but I just don't see why you should keep them as from the us, where as a south african may not...
Oo no we don't have it that bad here :) the worst we get to is about -15C that's at really bad times but I'm sure we can reach close to -20 at times too. In winter my room is actually a bit warmer at times as the sun is in a different position and glares into my room for most of the day, so it...
I'm familiar with the b transvaalense. I have not been fortunate to see a live specimen, only a dead female alongside a walk pathway a few metres away fro m the mac mac falls waterfall. Maybe another time, I've only been fortunate enough to see hundreds of b pumilum :)
The best cages for...
Hey. There's actually a few more south africans on the forum. But I am the only member that's actually still very active on the forum. You can PM me if you have any questions and such. I have baby panthers and veileds which I'm breeding in a couple months.
Hey there. I'm from south africa. I'm actually looking for silkworms lol. Where do you find them forsale and how much are they? The only other feeders that are missing from your list would probably be roaches. You can check out (Google) SAroachman, he breeds and sells many species of cockroaches...
Wo
Termits you say Sandra?
I would be scared to feed my chameleons termits, won't they bite them? I'm always looking for new ideas though for feeders, I plan on getting some snails going, I'm getting 2 giant snails from a friend and he says the babies hatch out to be perfect size for chams...
