I second that the lighting is likely the cause for your chameleons eye problems. Sometimes a vitamin A deficiency is the problem but I highly doubt that is the case. Make the necessary changes James has advised you as soon as possible and you should see a turn around quite quickly if it is...
Apologies, I thought from the picture that he was an adult. Well I'd still go for a 5.0 uvb light and dust with calcium about 5 times a week and calcium with D3 once or twice a week until 6 months age then once or twice a month thereafter. Your multivitamin once every 2 weeks. Remember that you...
From what I have read Arcadia is a good brand. Again, I think people will disagree with me about this but I think it's too strong. It's only in the last year I have heard of people beefing up their UVB but in the 10 years I've kept chameleons I've never used stronger than 5.0.
If you are...
Can you tell us what brand of uvb are you using and are you sure there are no other weird symptoms he is displaying? Provide another picture of him, showing his entire body in good lighting.
My gut is telling me your UVB lighting is the cause of his eye irritations. It may be too strong. I...
I hope when you say misting 15 seconds for 3 hours that you are not also misting during the hours the lights are off. I do feel like this could lead to excess water collecting and stagnating in certain parts of the cage while the enclosure is cold (because its night time) which actually leads to...
But the OP mentioned a coughing noise and that it has happened multiple times. Also a chameleon that is opening it's mouth because of overheating is generally very light in colouration, and that is not the case here. So I think there is definitely sufficient information here, with pictures, to...
Add live plants for humidity.
You have a mister in there going off quite often so he should be drinking just fine. But he does not look good. You can see he has dentations in his face and legs. He is underweight.
I suggest you take him to the vet. You mentioned a coughing noise and keeping...
I guess the space needed for them would be a big concern for people in the UK given that rooms and housing are quite small there (based on my comparison from the housing here in South Africa).
Creating a list of confirmed buyers would be the best thing you could do. If you ever do ponder the...
I may be wrong but they do look like cricket eggs to me. The shape and colour. Difficult to see the size of them in the picture but cricket eggs look like miniature, yellow rice grains.
Do a fecal test to eliminate the possibility of parasites. The no pooping issue - could it not be an...
For what reason would you not find buyers for the Parsons? Is it because they are overall too expensive for most people or is it because of lack of interest in chameleons? I am moving to the UK soon and I cannot wait to have the opportunity to keep and breed Parsons and whatever other species I...
They do look a bit yellow in the earlier photos. So they are probably infertile. Your mating attempt was probably unsuccessful. You should keep putting the pair together to mate until the female shows unreceptive colours. If that is what you did it could be that the male is infertile.
They are likely infertile if they are already going bad. Your incubation medium looks a little bit too wet in my opinion. Which can be a problem but that wouldn't have caused the eggs to go like this so soon. Have you got a picture of the eggs when you first put them in the incubator?
JessG I've seen this happen to a chameleon of mine when it's tail got accidentally caught in the enclosure door as I closed it. Eventually the tail dies from the point which does not curl and it falls off. This could also be from a baby sibling biting it as what happened with the missing toes...
As you said it's already quite hot and humid so in my opinion a screen cage might be better. Take a look at the dragonstand enclosures and get an idea of how to alter your screen cage to that. You could attach plexiglass to the sides and back.
Sorry for your loss. You will find all the right information here and maybe also check out chameleonsonlineezine
.com. look through relevant articles in past issues about Jackson's.
Also here's a great YouTube video about their care requirements
I do what Fireborn said. But to make it easy and have 2 hands free I would put the chameleon on my shirt facing up. Then gently grab them behind the head or on the cheeks to get a response of mouth opening then quickly get the syringe in. That worked for my veileds and not my tiny Panthers...
LEO IS A GIRL and she will lay eggs. Please acknowledge this and make the necessary arrangements to have her healthy and prepared for egg laying. It happens so often that petshops sell females as males. You are not alone. Trust the good people on this forum. Not the pet shop guy.
