Thank you! Is there any chance the popping could just be because he was sitting under the dripper all day? I just don’t know how the infection could’ve progressed this quickly. I only noticed symptoms starting this morning.
I’m now hearing popping when he breathes. It’s small but it’s there. I’m now confident it’s a URI and will be calling the vet tmrw morning. Now I just need to know the best meds to ask for as I’m not too confident in my vet’s chameleon knowledge.
How do vets test for URI? If they prescribe meds so you know which ones are best and what I should watch out for? I will slow the dripping rate and turn the lamp off. Let me upload a pic of the cage for you :)
He really doesn’t drink as much as he should so I think that may have prompted his multiple-hour-long shower underneath the dripper. I hope it’s not a kidney thing or anything. It was a strangely long shower.
My cham has been turning his head up in the air and gaping and thought the instances have been isolated they’ve been more frequent today. At some points I question it because he’ll be right under his heat lamp and I’ll wonder if he’s just hot and he’ll put his head up when he’s under his dripper...
He scares me too sometimes because he’ll let it drip over his nostrils until he’s practically choking and then he’ll tip is head up and it looks like he has URI but it’s only when he does this. I think it’s him trying to drain the water he just inhaled out of his airway. Sometimes I’ll get so...
Doesn’t anyone else’s cham just sit under the dripper for like 20 mins, close their eyes, and enjoy their shower. He does this all the time and I think it’s so funny.
Amazing!! I’m majoring in education in college and love to see my two of my
passions come together in the classroom. Teaching and chameleons! Keep up the great work!
Continuing with my cham art projects. I bought a kit to assemble a wooden 3D chameleon. I assembled it and then gave it a makeover to look like Bazel. I’m pretty proud. It’s sturdy enough that I bet I could make it hold onto a stick 😂 Am I too obsessed with my chameleon??
So first of all you should be using calcium WITHOUT vitamin D3 at every feeding and dust the bugs with vitamin D3 once every 2 weeks. Improper supplementation can lead to many health issues.
I highly recommend you get a thermometer for the cage as it is very important to make sure it’s not...
