I think it would help to get these guys established captive here if we could get ore breeders for them. My wife probably wouldn't go for it either but I would love to try.
Thank you so much for the high praise. I still consider myself new to this but love sharing what I have learned along the way. You were one of the people there for me when I first started so it's cool to hear it coming from you.
When I got my orange heads or grasshoppers they sent them in a deli cup with either egg crate in it or something else for them to hold onto and not get smashed. Then put a little food in there for the journey and some tiny air holes.
I love my salt water reef tank. Its like running a bio setup that manages itself. I think we spoke about it before but I couldn't avoid the saltwater since the colors of the coral and fish were what I needed in my life. I started with fresh but once I went salt I couldn't go back.
I tried orange heads and no go. I think the only thing that would work for mine might be red runners but I am too afraid they will get out and infest. For now I am working on getting a grass hopper colony going since they are a lot less noisy and smelly and at the same time not as scary as the...
Your asking the wrong group if you actually want someone to stop you. haha. its a slippery slope from here. I'm gearing up for more. Its easier to just give in.
I have been there. That's why I disappear for a little while and come back here off and on. Not so much because of the people or trolls but I think it is important to take breaks from a hobby as it will become too much and then you can burn out.
Ok so This is great information. I have been trying to figure out the path I want to go with the baby cage and I think I found a mentor. haha. I have talked a lot about it with Matt too but I love to see other perspectives. Ill PM you though so we don't hijack the thread.
If you would be so...
I have been looking into glass setups for the babies as well and I would love to see how you are doing it. I was looking into the zoo med Paludarium Kit becasue of the bottom section depth is designed for water. I think they make it in a non kit version because I do not need the other stuff. I...
That's the slow trust building and it can be SLOW. haha Patience is the key and not going back on it. I also found that if you go on a work trip for a week or so that can really stall or revert back the building. Keep up the good work and keep us posted.
Not sure whats going on but I love the colors! Between you and @jannb you guys always catch my attention with the female veileds. They are so beautiful when they get these colors and they have such an amazing pattern when gravid.
I have had a few of those low key projects that only @Matt Vanilla Gorilla knew about and that is one of the tings I love about him is that he is open to new ideas and will support the things I do unless its really stupid. Then he just tells me "Nope! Don't do that". My cage formats and some of...
A better pic including the heels of the rear feet would be the best way but based off the photo provided it looks like a female veiled to me and around 4-5 months maybe.
