I had a small chunk of banana in the bin for just over 24 hours and it already had these mites on it again. Should I be worried about them getting out of control or will their population cycle based on food supply without affecting the GBs?
Yeah, that's gonna be a pain to trim and coat the foam, but it sure will look nice in the end.
Is this cork bark anchored in the foam and the pot slid into the opening, or is the pot in the foam and cork bark glued to the pot?
I was thinking of gluing cork bark chunks or sheets to my pots...
Alright thanks. So I guess I should go ahead and toss these scraps! I'm guessing newly hatched green bananas looks much more roach-like and move quickly?
Went to change fruit and found lots of small white slow moving things on the old fruit. Are these newly hatched babies or some sort of mite? I started the colony about 3 weeks ago, so I don't really know what to look for. Thanks.
I actually think the foliage will be fairly dense when I first set up the cage. The cage won't ship until late August, but I already have all my plants potted and growing on a covered patio. Maybe I will post a pic of it set up in a couple months and get input on which uvb bulb to order then.
What’s your ambient indoor RH like? Mine can get down to 40% with my AC running even though I live in the muggy south. I’m strongly considering the Vivarium configuration to make controlling my humidity easier, but I’m waiting for him to release some more info on that style cage.
It looks like a monstera deliciosa to me. Pothos leaves will get quite large when they grow up a pole or tree like that, but I don't think they ever get fenestrations.
Thanks @Beman. Sounds like I should definitely stick with a 4 bulb t5ho fixture and not worry about t5 LED bulbs.
Anyone else have insight on 6 or 12% uvb bulb?
@snitz427 and @nightanole - what type of dual t5 fixtures do you have, what size cages, and what bulbs are you running in them where...
I plan on ordering one of Dragonstrand's new medium tall clearside atrium cages (30" wide x 23" deep x 48" tall). My plants will include a large golden pothos and a nepenthes miranda or bill bailey on the left side of the cage. Then a schefflera alpine jr, calathea freddie, and red maranta on...
