Hi everyone! Just wanted to make an update.
Charms appears to have calmed down a bit and gotten used to her (his?) environment. However, she's still not really eating much. Every day I set up this meal in 3 feeding cups for her:
25 crickets
25 dubia roaches
2 wax worms + 1 mealworm
At the...
Hey by the way, are you the woman who runs the Neptune channel? I thought she was a member here but I'm not sure. I'm planning on scheduling an hour-long call with her this week, but I realized I should ask if she is you first because you've already imparted your advice.
My wife has asked if you'd be willing to upload a photo of the wire baskets and how you've set them up?
I naturally run super hot so I keep the heat off almost always. Ambient temp in the house is between 70-72 most of the year. In summers it's 76 because we're in SoCal.
Ambient temp at bottom...
To clarify, Charms has been eating less in the past week, so his droppings are half the size of the one shown in the above photo, but still same consistency and color.
Nighttime humidity starts off around 80% and slowly declines until morning, around 40%.
Vet just said he probably has a...
Hi everyone! I just want to do a quick visual health check with you on my 3-month-old male veiled, Charms. I've got 3 issues I'd like to discuss:
1. Hydration: does he look dehydrated?
Charms is very timid and retreats any time I open the enclosure to put the feeding cups in, which is once...
Hi everyone, just wanted to give an update here:
We took Charms to the exotic vet and got confirmation from three vets there that he is, in fact, a boy.
He also passed the fecal parasite test with zero parasites, so that's good.
Best of all, I caught him eating on three separate occasions. He...
Sorry but I've never used forums before so I don't know the etiquette / how to Like stuff. I don't use social media.
I bought the probe thermometer. I think it's too hot in the enclosure since replacing the red bulb with the 60W exo terra daytime bulb. Right now it's 82 in the basking area and...
I've been watching Neptune's stuff every day for weeks now. I even listened to her this morning while I cleaned.
I've put 2 plastic cups of different sizes in the enclosure, suspended from the basking branches, so the chameleon can look down on them and see that they're filled with bugs. I've...
I've been reading all of the replies to all of my posts, believe me. We have made dozens of adjustments to the cage and regimen.
I did follow your guidance on adjusting the shooting gallery / feeder run. I rotated it 90 degrees so it's vertical, and lowered it to a few inches below the basking...
I am at my wit's end with this chameleon. I think I need to return him to the vendor so he doesn't starve to death at this point.
I have done absolutely everything this forum has advised me to do. I bought the new thermo-hygrometer, I've broken down and rebuilt the cage twice with my wife...
I am having this issue, and I just made this post:

Hi folks,
My wife and I built our first terrarium for our first chameleon. We then purchased a 3-month-old male veiled chameleon from a reptile expo in Southern California 2 weeks ago.
I have noticed two issues with this chameleon:
Problem 1: BUMPS ALONG THE CHAMELEON'S SIDE
We only noticed...
I ordered the 60w Exo Terra daytime heat bulb you recommended to replace the red one, and it arrived today! I'll be swapping it in soon.
I will remove the moss.
I bought the Govee Smart Thermo-Hygrometer recommended by you folks. His daytime basking temp is 82, and his night time temp is 68...
Hi all,
My 3-month-old veiled chameleon Charms has been in my home for 9 days now, and he's begun to establish a routine. I'd like to tell you about it and show you some photos of him for any feedback / guidance.
Charms sleeps on his topmost branch with his little chin resting on the branch...
I've had him for 4 days, and we don't know how he was fed before beyond "small crickets." The guy was really busy at the expo, so he didn't have time to teach us much about how he raised the chameleon. His feeders aren't too big because I've seen him eat them! He seems to crunch them up in 3 bites.
