If you don't think you have a proper place for her to lay than you don't have a proper place for her to lay. She's going to lay regardless, it doesn't matter if they're fertilized or not.

Don't put anything on the bottom of the cage. No substrate at all. Chams have been known to eat it on accident and have it cause an impaction. It can kill them
It's because they're fuzzy, they will cause irritation in the chams mouth and throat. May get stuck. I'm usually all for feeding wild caught insects but this one is not a good idea
He's trying to clean his eyes when he's doing that. Make sure you're misting him enough, at least 3x a day 5-10 mins each time and make sure his humidity is adequate. He may have a piece of shed stuck in his eye and inadequate misting and low humidity makes it hard for him get it out and...
