The poop should have two parts, one should look like, well, poop (brown, a little slimy) and the other part should be white (that is the urate). If the urate is not white, mostly orange, it is dehydrated.

I disagree. If every experienced chameleon keeper boycotted these stores it would have zero effect. The large majority of their sales are to walk ins who see the cool chameleon for only $50 and make a purchase. Furthermore, the chameleons are really there to drives sales of all the expensive...
I have had four chameleons for two years and I have only seen two of them drink. Only one of those two will drink in front of me if they know I am there.
As said before, as long as the urate is white, the chameleon is hydrated. :D

I agree with Carlton that the spots may not be burns, more likely bruises or scabs. I have not seen burns on a Jackson, but burns that I have seen on panthers and vields are usually very bright in color as opposed to black.
