When my gravid females get restless and ready to lay I use a 30gallon garbage can with dampened beach sand and a basking lamp to bring the temperature up! I put the female in the g can in the morning so she can dig and lay her eggs!

See if she'll open her mouth & get a better look inside her mouth along the jaw line! Then you can tell a little better what's going on inside her mouth! Be gentle!

I use sand! When its wet/damp, it packs good & doesn't collapse when my females dig a tunnel! Hth! I live by lake Michigan so for me its free! Screen it, bake in oven & into bin!
