Uhhh
Arcadia and reptisun are the same, from the same german factory. Arcadia does not have a dedicated light bulb factory, and neither does reptisun, they farm them out. Both have roughly the same 6 phosphor formula with one dedicated to just UVB. Both have a recommended replacement...
You need two T5HO's to keep most things happy. One uvb and one 6500k. Or you can sometimes cheat and use a small halogen basking bulb on both sides of the cage, they will grow towards them.
between 6-9 months you got eggs. So no def not a baby. And with females you want to restrict feeding so you dont get early eggs. So if you over feed a female, you will end up with eggs before she reaches full size.
I do not leave feeders in feeder in the cage for hours. They get one-two hours, then they get taken out and offered the next day. If they eat, they do not get fed the next day unless they are babies.
If i want hunger strikes, the easiest way to trigger them is have feeders in the cage 24/7...
I prefer the videos where the person finds an injured cham, nurses it back to health, and comes back with a herd of babies. And during the video the chameleon changes gender and species and age, several times, but at least its always the same color :p
Happy plants crowd out the basking light around here 😊
But yea i have basking (well its a string of 3 35 halogens) a dual T5HO with one 6500k for plants and one UVB. And i still need more light to keep hibiscus alive.
Id say if you got over 6 years, you were a good parent, especially for a female, they seem to live a little shorter lives.
In the wild they only last a year. Hatch, eat like crazy, and lay eggs before the dry season hits. If you live long enough to see your own eggs hatch, you are the 1-2%.
Just keep track of hot spots. I would also angle it vs straight down. This creates and ellipse instead of a round hot spot. If you noticed in my pics either the bulb is angled or the cham/stick is angled.
the fillout police should be here any time. About the only new info you added vs OP is "100w heat lamp & arcadia shadedweller 300mm 8watt 7%uvb, 17%uva".
That is way too low for a cham. Its just a 7% T5 non HO. its mean for geckos/anoles in short tanks. Not tall cham cages. Ideally you...
Id say its too hot, or doesnt have a good cool spot. And there is no place to hide. Your little guy might be one of the ones that want "here is my pet bush" that may or may not have a chameleon in it.
Or in my case, simply moving the cage to next to a non sun facing window fixed it. The...
Is that a bug zapper? or worse a UVC sanitizer?
Over all looks good. My crew would want more window looking out vines.
Uhh charlie has some edema starting, its why the eyes and the throat look like that.
