Thanks for the link. I found my way there shortly after my post. The thought to go to your albums came after I posted (of course). :)
I'm following that thread now. ;)
I would love to see pics of this if you get the chance. I saw a juvenile Ambanja today and I want to see if he looks anything like yours.
I love you idea of using a simple thing like a laundry basket as a portable cage.
No problem my friend.
I thought it was important to revive this thread to inform other new members that may not be aware of this and thus, not provide their chams with the necessary UVB. This came to my attention when I was reading another thread where a member was not aware that glass blocks...
Oh sorry, I should have been more clear. It was never my intention to use the sunshine as the only source of UVB, just the chance that he would love to lay in the sunshine. I would never rely on just the sun, especially because of the cold winter days when it wouldn't be possible to open the...
I don't have the definitive but I have read the same in this forum and through a little Googling. Here is an old thread that I just revived that is relevant to this topic.
https://www.chameleonforums.com/threads/uvb-vs-screened-cage-in-front-of-window.103510/
I hope it is not a problem that I am reviving this old thread. The 'glass blocking most UVB' question has been asked frequently and I was interested in it myself because I am thinking about putting the vivarium in front of a sliding glass door. Here in Hong Kong it is very rare to see double...
That makes sense. Thanks!
I feel better about that situation now. Now I need to do a little more research to confirm what the night time temperatures are like in the winter here and see whether it is still within the acceptable range for the Veiled or Panther chameleon.
I think 36" is the tallest this vivarium comes in. I will have to check with the shop and confirm.
You raise a good point here. You must be correct because according to the description of the vivarium, the bottom 9 or 14cm could essentially hold water without leaking.
I do not know much about...
This is something that I will need to look into living in Hong Kong. Homes are not insulated and generally there are no central heating and A/C systems. Each room has its own heating and A/C units. The main room where I would place the cage is typically not be heated at night, although I may...
Congratulations! I'm not sure how far along the one on the way is but they should grow up to be close siblings. Mine are twenty-two months apart and they get along very well (most of the time, the rest of the time they should be kept in separate vivariums. LOL)
If only you were in Hong Kong...
I guess this vivarium is not very popular amongst you all here.
Since many of you are in the U.S., perhaps I should provide the dimensions using the imperial system. The dimensions are approximately 30" wide x 18" deep x 36" tall.
Maybe try putting up half of a side at a time and let her gradually get used to it. Maybe start with the side that she frequents the least so that it is has the least impact on her daily life.
Let us know if it eventually works or not.
Yes. I remember seeing a post by a person here in Hong Kong and it seemed like her cham was given proper medication so I have already reached out to that member to ask about the vet that she went to. There is also the Hong Kong Reptile and Amphibian Society that I am sure I can get some good vet...
That was the first thing that came to my mind....
Except I only finished reading this thread now. :/
It was my first thought because of experience (but with wake up alarms). lol
"... What you have to do is before you plug the monsoon in the timer. Plug it to the wall and set it for cycle. It should spray for whatever setting you have. Once thats done just unplug it. So the last thing the monsoon was on was cycle before the power cut out. Now plug it into the timer..."...
Thanks for your update. I don't have any misters yet, haven't even set up my vivarium yet. LOL
Does that mean that you have to unplug the mister's plug each night? What would the setting be if you did not unplug it? Would it still revert back to its last setting? Or would it continue onward...
This is a great idea. I have another suggestion because the back of my mind has me worried that if somehow the timer malfunctioned and stayed on, then the mister would stay on constantly too.
So an alternative setting would be to set the timer so that it turns on every day but only during the...
Still doing my research on all things chameleon before going all in.
I recently saw the Komodo Vivarium at one of the local reptile shops. It's dimensions are 76cm wide x 46cm deep x 91cm tall. Three sides are mesh (2 sides and the back) while the front is sliding glass with lock. And the lower...
That was true in the past but I think the Leafs are finally going in the right direction. I can feel it. :D:LOL::ROFLMAO:
Do you have a favourite NHL team?
