    Distended Stomach for 3 days!

Hello, Hue The Chameleon, that we learned was female, has had a distended stomach for about 2-3 days. I'm not sure if the chameleon is doing it for fun or what's really going on. Bowel movements and urate seem to be normal. Hue is eating about the same number of crickets a day. I'm not really...

There's also another thing that's odd. After he shed last week, he scratched everything of except a few pieces of skin on his right side. He doesn't seem interested in getting it off either. Is this normal?

Near the top when the lights are on it's about 95 degrees right under the three lights. I have two uv bulbs and 1 red one. Near the bottom of the cage it's about the same as the rest of the house and about 72 during the day. At night it probably drops to no lower than 68 in the rest of the house...

He was also friendlier when I had the red light. He was a bit more active. Now he spends a lot of time hiding in the middle of the terrarium behind leaves. He is also eating more vegetables than before. He mainly eats romaine lettuce, cilantro, spinach, and his jade cactus that we have in there.

Hello, I've had a veiled chameleon for 3 months and he was probably 1-2 months when we got him. At first, when he was young, I feared that he would get cold at night. To remedy this, I put a red light in the corner that I'd keep on for 24 hrs a day. Now that he's older and I read that light can...

    Help! Crickets everywhere!

So I closed the door and was considering refinishing the floors, so I went ahead and did that for the room outside of my office. Most of them got stuck in the polyurethane and very few made it out of that wing of the house. So many dead crickets.

I would recommend experimenting with the red light and see what your chameleon likes. If you have enough leafy foliage, he could sleep completely shielded from the red light. If your chameleon is like mine, he will literally climb the vines on the corner of the tank and sleep as close as he can...

Also think of drainage under your system, I have an elevated system with a bucket underneath to collect all the water that's dripping from the big dripper. It help control the humidity and also with prevent lung issues from mold, etc

Are you ready to take care of hundreds and hundreds of crickets? I bought 3 cricket keepers plus a 20 gallon tank. I highly recommend getting a high walled 20 gallon tank to put on the bottom of your enclosure, so you can put the crickets in it and prevent them from escaping. This way he gets to...

How much food is too much food for a 2 month old Chameleon?

Hue is shedding again, so there's a chance that the extra crickets were to help with the growth. Today I put 36 in and he only ate about half.

Yes, the prep is as important as selecting the chameleon. Most people get veiled or panthers. Veiled are a little easier on the pocketbook so you don't feel as bad spoiling them with tons of extra treats. There are great kits online that can make your life a lot easier. Do you need/want...

How much food is too much food for a 2 month old Chameleon?

My veiled chameleon, Hue, is two months old and has a voracious appetite. Hue eats 20-30 medium sized crickets a day, and doesn't eat more because I don't put more in. I thought it was a problem with calorie in take so I have been supplementing his 20-30 1/2" crickets with 10 wax worms a day...

Issues with Chameleon finding resources in new cage

Added additional leafy vegetables, not interested. Hello, I added papaya, carrots, potatoes, spinach, arrugula, and romaine. Hue hasn't touched any of it. He like to rip a large leaf off, eat a chunk and then throw it down and watch it mold. I also bought banded crickets because people said...

    Vegetables to feed to chameleon?

Chameleon eating tons of jade cactus Hello, I wanted to put a live plant with my chameleon and everyone was recommending pothos, but I met with a botanist with a phd and was told pothos is toxic. He recommended the jade cactus because it holds lots of water which is what chameleons are...
