Hello all!
I have a five month old female veiled and right now her diet is crickets and supplements. I was previously just going to the store every day for her daily crickets but that got old fast. One, gas money, and two, they don’t feed their crickets very well. So I have started just buying...
I got my Cham from PetSmart and luckily the vet confirmed she is doing well and is healthy. However, everyone here knows what they’re talking about with how bad PetSmart and Petco are. I went to Petco the other day to see about their feeders and they had a sick Cham. When I brought it to their...
Go to "Forums" click on "Health Clinic" there is a thread there called "How to ask for help" that has some questions you need to copy and answer in order for readers and responders to get all necessary info. Then go back to the "Health Clinic" sections and there should be a blue button near the...
You should start a new thread for this for more experienced cham owners to respond to. I am new to cham ownership, but to me, that sounds like a respiratory infection. If it were me, I'd take her to a vet. You really can't be too careful with these guys.
That's how we figured it out, the absence of spurs! I know they say that males will have a larger veil, but that was hard for us to distinguish as she was the only cham at the pet shop and there weren't any to compare it to. Is that the only way we can tell about the veil, the size? Or are there...
Yeah, for sure, I just planned to reduce the amount of dust, not the frequency of the dusting! Admittedly, the crickets have looked a little ghost-like. I would never cut the calcium out, I wouldn't want her to develop any issues!
Thank you for this information! I wasn't planning on cutting back Charlie's calcium intake a lot, just a smidge because I know I do overdust the crickets, but I'm happy to know that the calcium isn't what's causing the discharge. I don't feel as concerned now, thank you!
Yes, even though nothing ended up being wrong with her, I'm so glad we took her! Better safe than sorry, for sure! We wanted an appt with Dr. Greek because we've seen how highly everyone speaks of him on here, but he wasn't available. Dr. Moore was great though! The whole office was so kind and...
Oh, we've known she's a she since shortly after we got her. We're still keeping the name haha. We think it's grown to be pretty unisex in recent years, and we feel it fits her personality!
We were worried that Charlie was a little sick so we made the hour+ trek to Dr. Greek's office, where we saw the lovely and kind Dr. Moore. Thankfully, she said Charlie is looking great and that we're doing well as first cham owners! We feel beyond relieved.
Also, it became very clear today...
That makes me feel great, thanks! I just feel like I can't be too careful with a chameleon, them being so sensitive and such. I've only had her two weeks and I'm already so attached.
Yeah, Charlie hangs out near the lights most of the time right now anyways, but I definitely want the best for her, so I will look into getting a better bulb for her. That's the UVB bulb, correct? Any suggestions for a basking bulb? I'm using a blue daylight ZooMed 100 wt bulb right now for her...
I am 100% not the person to ask this. I got my cham at about double the size of yours and she mostly eats voraciously, between 10-15 a day. From what I've seen, you should be feeding it as much as it can eat within a few minutes, but I'm certainly not an expert. There are many wonderful care...
Definitely a helpful thread, thank you! Dr. Greek is a little more than an hour away from me, so I was hesitant to make that trip with a sick chameleon, but I feel a little more comfortable now. I'll give them a call and see what they say. The journey isn't a very light one--I have to go down a...
I know chameleons aren't recommended for beginners, but things have been going well the last two weeks we thought. She was a happy green rather often, was eating and drinking well, and now it appears things have taken a bad term. Nothing has changed in our care. My sister and I have been very...
