Thank you both! :)
2020 has given US ALL way too much negativity. Let's spread positivity anywhere and everywhere possible, including caring chameleons owners who are looking for a little help.
Hey Addison, I'm happy to see you again reaching out with great questions. For your scenario it might be best to keep your questions in one thread. There's quite a bit that could be addressed and is easier to keep track of in one thread.
If I recall correctly, your little guy went a couple of...
The mimicking of a short rain shower with the lights off and then on is a new concept to me. I love that idea of taking things to the next level. I wish our UVB/Plant lights were smart and dimmable. There would be so many cool scenarios that could be created.
@Addison.Middler Glad you're reaching out to get help. The fastest way to learn A TON of very accurate and beneficial information, in addition to this forum, is to read Bill Strand's website https://chameleonacademy.com. It's incredible how much detail he goes into and answers questions you...
I'm sorry to
I'm sorry to say you need the one I linked above. It has much more accurate UVB output. The one you purchases is unfortunately weaker than what a chameleon needs. Your pet store should be able to work with you to find the right UVB bulb. You really do need the longer T5 bulb.
The first thing that needs IMMEDIATE attention is getting a t5 5.0 UVB light. A lot of people prefer the Arcadia 6% bulb. Another option is the Reptisun t5 5.0 bulb. Either way, you need this ASAP. Like today ASAP. A UVB light is mandatory and chameleons cannot process their food and grow...
Hey! Welcome to the forums :)
Real plants are preferable and better for the health for any chameleon. Usually a good rule of thumb is the more plants the better, but also allow some space around the top of the cage for the chameleon to be able to get around. It looks like you're off to a good...
The remainder of my hornworms have become way too large for my little guy. I honestly don't want to turn them into moths, but clearly don't want to simply throw them away. I thought about taking them to a park and letting them go there, but I don't know of the ecological impact this could have...
I am planning a multiple day backpacking trip where I will be gone from Friday night until Tuesday mid-day/afternoon. As I understand it, chameleons can be perfectly okay going a week without food occasionally.
What about a 5.5 month old panther chameleon? Would he be okay going without food...
Kenshō is still holding a grudge from yesterday when I took him out of his enclosure to rearrange it and my desk.
In his defense, it was close to his bedtime, has an upcoming shed, and it was the first time he “explored“ outside his enclosure.
I’d be pissed too...
Welcome to the forums! I'm excited that you're excited. It's such a great feeling getting a new little guy to hang out with :)
Regarding how to take him out of the cage, I'm not sure I have any more to add than what has already been recommended. It's clear you care for him and want to do what's...
I find it fascinating how these creatures are SO sensitive to pretty much everything, but with the right lighting there is such a significant margin for error.
I don't have first hand in doing this, but the screen doesn't seem too strong. It may be fine short term, but the long term strain is really what I would be worried about.
You want to tie them to the frame as much as humanly possible rather than the screen.
If you have the budget and time, I...
Oh shoot, I meant to type every two weeks on the CalciumPro-Mg and RevitalizeD3, not once a week. So it would be as follows:
• EarthPro-A - every feeding
• CalciumPro-Mg - once every two weeks, no EarthPro-A
• RevitaliseD3 - once every two weeks, no EarthPro-A
