We went to Walmart and they had $7 Pothos plants that were about 2 feet long in a 7inch pot. A perfect size at a steal of a price. Some stores also have clearance plants aka broken in some parts or too much stock.

It takes some time (and lots of hot glue) but I used corrugated plastic from a hardware store and put in a drain tube that leads to a bucket which I drilled through an IKEA table. I also put eggcrate on top of my screen floor to allow for it to hold more weight on it aka potted plants

I think your plants should be safe for your little guy! I did read in another thread that Yucca leaves might be hard to grab on bc the leaves are very wide (for babies).
