Okay, thanks! Super helpful.
Yeah, she's been quite grumpy, both from her tongue and from the increase in handling. It makes sense that the eyes would be a stress response. She'll just have to deal haha.
Thanks again!
As for keeping the humidity up for a screened cage, live plants (which you have) and I personally put cling wrap on 2/3 of 3 sides of the cage--the back and two sides. It has definitely helped (I live in the desert).
Hi all!
So, quick update on Charlie. Last weekend I posted in search of advice or help because Charlie's chin area was swollen. It continued to get more swollen as the days went by, so we took her over to Dr. Greek's place, where we saw Dr. Moore.
It turned out to be a tongue infection. We...
Hi all. Here goes:
Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - Female veiled, between 7&8 months. I've had her nearly 3 months. Wow, seems like longer!
Handling - Rarely. Every other week or so for cage cleaning.
Feeding - I feed Charlie between 10-12 small/medium crickets every other day. Crickets are...
Charlie is between 7 and 8 months, which makes me think she may be a bit too young to introduce her to my students. If you guys think it’s a bad idea, please let me know! I’m very open to your suggestions!
I was actually wondering this too! I’m teaching at a high school and the kids are really interested in Charlie. I haven’t decided that I’m doing it yet, but I’ve been entertaining the idea. In this case, would you set up a temporary/butterfly cage in the class, or just take them in a box/carrier...
Gotcha, I wasn’t thinking about the future! She’s still pretty small and sometimes I forget that eventually she will be getting a larger enclosure! Thank you!
As I mentioned on your last post and as everyone else has mentioned, she NEEDS a vet visit. Also, are you absolutely positive your cham is female? She could be a he. If she is in fact a she, she's certainly nowhere near laying eggs.
Hi all,
Up until now, I've been using the double dome fixture for Charlie's UVB and basking lights, and I know they're definitely not recommended. I'm looking to switch to a linear UVB fixture as I always see those are better. My current cage is 16X16X30, so I'm looking for something compatible...
I’m relatively new to Cham ownership as well, but I would suggest finding a good reptile vet near you and taking him in. The way he’s sitting with his mouth open could be a sign of a URI. When he breathes, does he make weird noises? Regardless of if he has a URI or not, a vet visit is still an...
Does anyone else feel pleased when their Cham sheds? Charlie had just finished a shed when we got her, and now this is her second shed since, and it’s such a relief to see her healthy and growing! I feel like sheds are a sign of that. Anyone else?
Here are some pics from today. She was climbing...
I wouldn’t say she’s necessarily comfortable with my hands. I was holding a Solo cup, and I honestly think she was just really hungry.
So I started off feeding her with free roam crickets. I’d just empty them in the cage and let her hunt for them. I switched to cup feeding though by just...
Okay, you shouldn’t be dusting with a multivitamin once a day. You should be dusting with a phosphorous-free calcium supplement without d3 daily, and a mutivitamim and calcium with d3 about twice a month.
