It looks like you have gotten good advice, so I really can't add anything, other than I am impressed that you would put the effort into helping a chameleon. Good luck, and your English is fine.
Wow! Congrats on your breeding success, wish I had our new Jackson area completely set up. May I ask what you are selling the babies for?
How many did you get? I understand the care is quite similar to the Jacksons.
I am not sure where to answer this, but the question was should you use fertilized soil, & the answer is no. Moistened soil with any kind of fertilizer could be bad if there are not plants using it. I just wouldn't do it.
You can buy sterile soil that is used for starting seeds & plant cuttings quite cheaply. I would consider baking it to sterilize it, but I have never heard of washing it. We used choir, which is clean and wets pretty easy. I took the bottom from a Reptibreeze cage and set the cage on a tub...
Nice job, the new cage looks like there is lots to climb around on. But yet it is not crowded. Seems like chameleons get nervous quite easily when the cage is too small. Larger cages make happier pets.
I had the same question when we adopted our 1st chameleons. Most of the information I could find is that the 5.0 is the standard UVB. A thermometer is the best way to determine what is needed for basking, but in my experience 100 watt is too hot. Good though, chameleons are really fun!
Where will you be in Colorado? At any rate welcome. If you can get a professional shipper that would be wise. All of the chameleons we have had successfully shipped were sent in plastic deli cups with a piece of moist paper towel & shipped overnight. Good luck with your move.
Good luck, hope you can make a difference. The Petco near our house gets Veileds & sells them quickly. But no one there seems to know much about what they sell.
We have panthers that we raised from eggs that we bought online. They need good humidity, in Utah you probably have very low humidity like we do here in Colorado. We run a humidifier constantly and spray the cages, chameleon and all, 3 times a day with a very fine mist. Artificial plants will...
I am impressed at the degree that you care about the little Jackson. Wishing you the best. We have a cool basement where we keep Jacksons, and we enjoy them very much. They really are sweet, with a calm nature. We built a fog system for them and love watching them taking showers. They really...
I do not recognize this species, but it appears to be another interesting chameleon. Looks happy & healthy, but maybe a little irritated by the camera.
