Some of my younger Ambilobe males 3-5 months old will show purplish barring. That goes away once they mature a bit more and they go either red or blue or a mix. I would say it's a safe bet that he's Ambilobe.

If he is in fact 5 months, he's most likely not received good care, as he is small for his age. His head shape does indicate he is older than 2 months, they tend to have more round heads at that age. I would guess that either his lighting was not adequate and/or he was not fed...
I haven't dealt with thermal burns first hand so I could be wrong but it does look like a pattern and location that would be consistent with burns. I have heard several times that Silvadene which you can get from the vet is the best course of treatment. It looks as though it could be infected...
