Yes, 7th grade gene studies are coming back to me now. Breeding the two is possible, safe, I would even say, but the result is not going to be a 50% regular Veiled Chameleon and a 50% Translucent Veiled Chameleon. The only 50% ratio you'll see is that among the offspring. Say momma has a clutch...
I feel like jpowell86 and jajeanspierre have some helpful input on this, as both are successful breeders with very pretty and very healthy chameleons. Both breed the less common species from what I know :)
From what I know, it's possible because both are of the same species, but are just different subspecies (i.e. the difference between C. parsonii parsonii and C. parsonii cristifer). As far as being healthy or safe, I have no clue.
Please please please feed her more, like 4x as much. 10-15 crickets per day at the very least. If she won't eat from a bowl, pick them up either with your fingers, or reptile-safe tongs, and slowly put them in front of her ~7-8" away. I'm not trying to show any aggression whatsoever, I know you...
I actually did put a tree in front of his enclosure, and he did come out. However, I think because I had to force him onto a stick to the point where he gaped his mouth, he won't come out anymore. I'm actually afraid that he's sick because he is always dark colors nowadays. He'll eat one cricket...
Ok, so I know that like all chameleons are not created equal and some might be grump lumps there entire lives, while others want to never go in their enclosure, I get it. However, from what I have read, handling is almost healthy for the babies after gaining trust via handfeeding and being...
There's a service called shipyourreptile or something like that, and you could contact them to ship him. I believe their contact info is on the Kammerflage website (chameleonsonly.com) towards the bottom of the home page. You might try asking a neighbour to ship him a few days after you arrive...
This is beside the point of him being all over the enclosure, but it looks like your nighttime lows are a bit on the cool side, normal temps for nighttime should be around 70 for him to be comfortable. He's beautiful, by the way ;)
Chameleon Info:
My Chameleon - Furcifer Paradalis (Panther Cham), Male at almost 4 months, had him since January 14th
Handling -I haven't handled him at all yet. Is this a good thing, or should I try to handle him?
Feeding - ~8-12 crickets per day. Last week I dusted them every other sitting...
