I've wondered how often this happens. You start getting a bunch of clutches going, life gets busy... I'll bet it happens more than folks admit.
That is kinda disturbing when you think about it. Sorry it happened to you.
It is highly likely a large unfamiliar animal of any kind will cause a lot of stress. You can try to explain to him the iguana only wants to eat his plants but since chameleons don't listen it probably won't do any good.
I'm not sure who here would find such a wonderful buffet, uh I mean bug set up boring.
What is the heating pad you're using? I'm always afraid of melting the totes.
I love the use of the changing table. I have the exact same one currently holding paint cans and misc junk. It is definitely...
This isn't just bug food. All three products represent a revenue stream that I'm sure is a portion of more than afew people's livelihoods, not to mention all the research, passion, and risk that went into bringing it to market in the first place.
I think all three are good and anyone who...
The quotas are a good thing if they represent an increased stability in habitat / population.
They are bad if they represent financial backing from wealthy enthusiasts, which I for one suspect.
Regardless of the reason it IS exciting. Good, bad? I'm not sure any of us, save possibly...
Should we be cheering that all of the wild populations for these are now stable enough to allow for exports? Apparently EU biologists still disagree?
I don't like the fact that any idiot with a few bucks will be able to grab one of these. I'm going to vomit in my mouth the first time I see...
I found the thread!

I'm not sure if more was involved or not. Jim is very experienced and has probably bred more panthers than most have ever seen... I am not qualified to judge if he is prone to exaggeration or not so I won't take it for...
I can't find the thread with this in it but I recall Jim Flaherty reporting near 100% die offs on a few accidental sibling pairings at his operation. I would classify this as the only reliable case I've heard about where inbreeding can have negative consequences.
Looking at this...
This is a brilliant solution. The overflow could easily be handled by installing a bulkhead valve 3/4 of the way up (just steal one from a little dripper), and run some aquarium air line tubing from it to a 5 gallon bucket.
That would pretty much eliminate manual filling. Or because the...
I would agree when talking about Kammer's chameleons, and to a certain extent lll's animals are better than many.
Their set up kits aren't good.
Lll uses reptariums and they come with moss. Kammers has a nice cage at least.
The Kammerflage set up would be ok if one ditched the fake...
There should be a range in the enclosure. The basking area, the branch under the light emitting heat, should be warmer than the bottom / middle of the enclosure. You probably don't want the entire enclosure to be 80 - 85, just the basking spot.
Incandescent bulbs are cheap. Go buy one of each between 40 and 75 watts and adjust throughout the year as needed to keep basking temps to the recommended for your species.
I didn't notice you mention a temperature. It is vital to monitor the temps in the basking area. You should know what...
Well, I'm not sure what either company has in their kits but if you're looking for the best, or just sufficient would make a difference. There are things you can skimp on and save money and still have the best where it matters.
- UVB bulb: don't go cheap. The major brand linear florescent...
In the wild a successful male's offspring over 4 generations could easily account for up to 500 chameleons in a population. I couldn't be convinced this pairing is either unnatural, or a bad idea if both are from strong healthy lines...
