WOOW. That does not look good. It looks like the entire lower part of his body is bruised. And from the look of the wound afterwards I would say it might be infected. I would def follow what Ferret has to say
My little girl will NOT let me hold her. Obviously that opens up a number of problems as far as vet trips and weighing goes. HOW IN THE WORLD DO I DO IT AND WHERE DO I START. BTW i mean beasie as a little nickname not an insult XD
Yes, your powders seem off. Its calcium without d3 everyday, d3 calcium 2 times a month, and multivites 2 times a month (I choose to do it in the beginning and the middle of the month so its an even time between dustings)
You say she is black, I believe that rules out overheating. Im pretty sure that when a chameleon turns too pale they are too hot. Is she opening her mouth/gaping. For the mean time, I would put a sheet or towel over the top of the cage to give her privacy for egg laying.
I got my female veiled in April and I am not sure how old she was when I got her. Here is a picture of her. This picture is the day I got her.
I fed her 5-10 crickets a day with calcium dusting and twice a month D3 and twice a month multivites. Now, I have had...
yes a picture would help
It could be misinformation on Petco's part, not telling you the correct age. Or it could just be a result of overheating. Send a picture of the tank as well. If the tank is too hot the chameleon might try to dig down to cooler areas. What temp are you constantly running...
I agree with both of these posts. From the look of him now to his feces. There is def. something not alright. I recommend bringing them in once a year at least and this cham seems to need that trip. It could be something extremely easy to treat. Don't stress too much but i urge you to bring him...
There always is the option of a glass tank but many members prefer not to use that and recommend against using them because of the chameleon's tenancy for respiratory problems. But some use it. I am not sure how they do it, and I urge you to do more research on them if your cham is a wall climber.
I totally agree. We should start a thread where people post their pictures of chameleons, both male and female, throughout their life. Then we chose the best of all of them as examples for learning and identifying
I am not sure where you live, but unless it is a desert or you have naturally dry air I would recommend a reptibreeze or some kind of screen tank. GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR LIL BABY CHAM :D
from the look of your cham's foot here i believe it may be a chamette (girl) but the angle may be deceiving and needs to be physically examined. I am saying that the picture can not show the gender so far.
Is this a safe distance for my Cham to bask?
There are also others farther from the light. It's around 5 inches at its farthest and 4.5 inches at closest. This is the measurement of the branch to the top of screen. Those leafs make it look closer that actuality.
