Omg you are SO lucky! Your writing is very comedic, I enjoyed it (not laughing at your situation ofc!) haha! I’m so glad you got him back. I only ever bring mine outside in an extra Reptibreeze that I take outside and put a plant and some sticks in. Just makes me feel more comfortable and even...
Without having read the whole thread I have two questions for you:
1. Are you regularly watering them?
2. Do you have a light specifically for plant growing?
This is very likely an issue with water and/or light.
Check out Neptune the Chameleon’s vid on supplementation - super helpful! I myself use Arcadia Earthpro A without D3 + bee pollen dusted on my feeders every feeding and then reptivite twice a month, once on the first and once on the 15th. Though I am interested in trying our Arcadia’s entire...
There are also people who use automatic plant watering systems such as this one. I have heard that some have had great success with this and if you’re looking for something similar to what Beman was doing, it might be worth checking out!
Ok first of all, you should consider yourself lucky - hoehnelii are amazing chameleons! And you have a stunner!!
As for the hissing, it looks to me like he’s just hissing and trying to be a big, tough boy. Though I am by no means an expert. I wouldn’t worry.
Not sure if you have Facebook but there are many, many rehoming groups on there that might gain a bit more action.
One in particular:
‘Chameleon Gems: A Re-Homing Group’
There are tons of moderators and admins that are more than willing to help you find a great home for him to go to :)
That’s true, my idea was that it would just be a small panel that one could affix to the tops of each side of the enclosure that would provide a smooth and unclimbable surface so they can’t reach the ceiling screen. But like you said, this would probably be unlikely to work with a 3D printer due...
This is a really random idea - but I thought about it the other day. Since I got another new baby, he of course is trying to climb the screen a little bit (not all the time and yes the enclosure is spot on). My idea was a 3D printed panel that could be secured to the screen on all 4 uppermost...
So since chameleons are reptiles and do not (obviously) sweat, turning a fan on won’t cool them (unless the enclosure is wet and it does via evaporative cooling but at this temp I would not recommend this). There are things you can do immediately to cool your enclosure down like putting ice...
If you are planning to mist yourself, I would do it 10 minutes before lights go on and right after lights go off. If you do get the mister that I linked, it can only go in hourly increments. What I did was set it to mist every 12 hours for 90 seconds starting at 7:50AM. This means that it would...
I also want to add a couple things I’ve noticed while looking over your information:
You stated that you have an 18x18x36 - this might be okay for a baby, but a male panther will need a 24x24x48 enclosure when he gets bigger - and that will be soon.
It seems like he’s doing some screen...
