Hey people!
So I thought everything with my enclosures was all set, but then someone said something about their own lighting and it got me to reconsider. I want to double check the UVB is placed accurately.
I have two chams with two different enclosures.
We’ll start with my female panther...
@Evelinguerrero Do you already have your chameleon in your possession? If so, what is it living in now?
Do you live near a Lowes or Home Depot or garden center?
Do not get the chameleon kit. There is nothing that is adequate for a chameleon in this product.
Forgive me if I come across harsh, but these are things that one should research and purchase before even making a decision to buy a chameleon to determine if one is still interested/able to keep a...
@aellethysir I urge you to use one of the vets that Jannb mentioned, they are the best of the best options. You want someone experienced, especially since you have a hoehnelii and not a panther or veiled which are more common.
These assholes on the subreddit LOVE to tell you that you are inept and that you are the source of misinformation. They try their absolute best to belittle you as much as they can. The chips they have on their shoulder…
The most outlandish part of this is that NONE of the advise they give is...
What I do it throw mine in the pool and then snap above the water like they do with babies. Both know how to backstroke, butterfly, and freestyle!
(This is a joke lol)
Sounds like you’re doing all the right things.
Make sure the vet you see has experience seeing and treating chameleons. You don’t want someone who doesn’t know what they’re doing. I believe @jannb is the one with vet connections and if you provide your rough location, they can recommend someone.
To clarify, I believe what @BostonKeith means is to have your entries like this:
Your Chameleon - The species, sex, and age of your chameleon. How long has it been in your care?
This is the information about my chameleon
Handling - How often do you handle your chameleon?
This is how often I...
This questionnaire will help those I tagged above to come up with an idea of what it could be:
Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - The species, sex, and age of your chameleon. How long has it been in your care?
Handling - How often do you handle your chameleon?
Feeding - What are you feeding your...
Hey, welcome! We have another Reddit convert! I saw this beautiful hoehnelii and had to make sure he got some experts to help out :)
@javadi I know you’re super knowledgeable with hoehnelii from personal experience!!
@DocZ @kinyonga are too!!
Any ideas?
Hey everyone!
I don't know about you all, but for the longest time I had the WORST luck with my plants and soil. I originally started using Miracle gro's organic in ground soil, but quickly noticed that the soil in my enclosure's plants was becoming foul, stunk like a swamp, and almost...
You’re so welcome! You can get this stuff pretty cheap on Amazon, or if you have a local nursery, I’d look there first! Walmart has a big bag of earthworm castings for $5 which is a steal! I think I’m going to make a separate post about this to help others out as well, so I’ll include links in...
This is the exact one that ruined my life. It infested every single one of NOT ONLY my chameleon plants, but my houseplant collection of 30+ plants. Bane of my existence.
I would highly suggest making the soil that I detailed in my previous message. It will save you from a lot of pain with...
What soil are you using?
I have had HORRIBLE luck with miracle gro in ground organic soil, or any in ground soil for that matter. It is not meant for houseplants (or vivarium plants) and is a cesspool of fungus gnats.
What I do is make my own soil.
50% coco coir
25% earthworm castings
25%...
Fungus gnats are the worst thing to ever exist. Usually they occur due to an issue with the soil being too wet and having a hard time draining. That’s what happened to me. You might need to repot your plants with new soil that you add something like orchid bark to, to increase drainage. I can...
