During the summer I keep mine in outdoor enclosures. You will see their true colors when the sun hits them just watch for venting and be sure they have shade available to escape the heat and pleanty of calcium/vitamins with all the UV they will get. I like your set up it's very aesthetically...
During the winter yes, I made them visible last month hoping to get the male into gear. The female is very outgoing nothing really bothers her but hes a giant pssy very timid and shy just like every other veiled I've kept. I'll leave them in view of one another for the rest of the summer.
No ofcourse not they have their separate indoor and outdoor enclosures. I just added the round collapsible cage to the mix for her to lay in. Did you notice the bite mark on her back? The male gave her one good bite but its healing nicely and shes doing great. It's her first clutch so its...
My female veiled is finally ready to lay her first clutch I used this old butterfly cage do to her home having a thick carpet of Irish moss and ants that were bothering her this morning when she was attempting to burrow at the edge of her home. Shes got a solid burrow built now so everything is...
The fog will not have chlorine in it as it will dissipate. It's practically distilling the water as it turns into vapor or fog. This is why you get calcium and mineral build up on the disks. It seems to cook or vibrate out all the contaminants while exciting the water molecules.
I must have got a really good one, or just maintaining it made it last for this long. I've had several over the years the ultra sonic pond foggers die fast when using tap. Distilled is recommended but like I said if maintained properly it could last you a long time. One difference I noticed is...
I give allitle bit of this crested gecko banana pudding mixto my chams when i feed the crested. Or Gerber baby food varietys. They love it they lick it rite off my finger, my adult male tries to eat my finger so be careful
Hydration is key! I recommend heavier than normal watering in the mornings until she begins to eat again. Horn worms may stimulate her appetite and hydrate her further. Best of luck she's buff I'm sure she'll pull thru
I used to use distilled but now I use tap. Just clean it once a week, mine has lasted over 4 years. I use a large vics humidifier outfitted with a hose and a custom Tee adapter to feed two enclosures side by side.
Does anyone use these sansi leds in a heat lamp the metal reflective standard cheap heat lamp fixture? I have a few ceramic based heat lamps fixtures but the metal ones seem to breath easier. Anyone blowing thru these $30.00 bulbs due to improper housing? They don't put off much heat it's just...
Mine are doing great also- despite my female veiled eating all the new leaves. She loves the baby leaves I call her weed wacker. If it wasn't for her landscaping the umbrella would have out grown her enclosure already. She eats the benjamina ficus also but seems to favor the umbrella. My male...
The bigger the pot the better, add small to medium river rock to the bottom of the enclosure/pot then soil/mulch I mix in red earth, sand and Pete moss with the top soil being mostly fine Pete moss. Before adding the top soil/ Pete moss add worms. Red worms and earth worms then bury them. Go...
Hey brother James, I've got one sun dew and 2 pitcher plants, I have a large potted 3 yr old VFT out back I took a few of the smaller seedlings and posted them up in the window seals as well. You are correct the sun dew is the ultimate gnat eater. It's like one of those online Turret games lol
Lol I know the frustration of having little gnats fly up your nose then having the subconscious itch thinking they've layed eggs in your nostrils whilst asleep and now little worms have hatched and are wriggling around in there. I've made traps and they do help, adding the mantids made a...
