DO NOT FREEZE SILKWORM FOOD. If you freeze it after its been made up, then defrost it the food will loose its cheese like consistency and will crumble into a mess when you try and feed it. This is becuase the water in the mix expands when frozen.
Eggs came in late this year, so there was a gap between hatching. Our eggs have already started to hatch, just a matter of getting caught back up. We have also been the only ones with silkworms for the last few weeks and we've been swamped with orders. In other words a lot of new customers that...
Just a few things to keep in mind. Hornworms are highly cannibalistic, if they do not have proper food immediately after they hatch. In other words they come out of the egg looking for food...no food they can eat...they will eat each other. You can feed them the green mulberry food, or the...
There will be a shortage of worms for the next few weeks until the new eggs are ready. While we're not sold out of worms just yet, we'll also be in a few weeks until the new eggs hatch. There're no virus issues going around, not with our stock anyhow. Eggs are in very short supply; with the...
Most people run into problems when they try and get to exact on providing heat/humidity. You do not want to provide any direct heat source on the worms what so ever. IE do not use heat lamps or heaters blowing right on the worms. If your going to use heat correction it should be done by heating...
Yes, that is correct its mostly ground up chicken feed (very high in fillers like corn). If you go to our site and select the amount you want the cart will tell you the shipping price when you select your country.
The eggs have to go through diapause, before they hatch (well to have a good hatch). Some eggs will hatch with out using the frig some times, but not many.
You have to place them in the frig after they trun from yellow to a dark purple color. The temp they're stored at is important, as is the humidity. Some eggs will hatch after 30 days others will take longer 60-90 days. Most of the time your frig at home is not cold enough and it ends up killing...
You should use a better dry gutload, and offer a source of water through veggies or crystals. We would recomend the gutload called "roach coach" I have yet to see any crickets or rocahes refuse it. Many of the gutloads sold for crickets don't work well for roaches, so you end up having to use...
The silk moths are good for an added calcium source, that powders in a bottle dont have. We have many customers who grow both the silkworms and hornworms up just for the moths.
You can use the same food sold for silkworms with out issue. Just keep the two worms separate and on their own food. Hornworms will eat each other if they do not have a constant food source!
Well on the silkworm DOA, looks like bad packing containers. You can not ship silkworms like that in the heat. They need to be vented more, other wise the moisture builds up and causes issues like you see in the photos ending in DOA. Worms at that size are also harder to ship in the heat. In any...
