That is just how chameleons are. Theirs not going to be any changing him. You could try hand feeding to help. Its likely to get worse as he matures, especially with him being a veiled.
You can just use a dome reflector with a regular incandescent bulb. Start with a 60W and see where your temps are at. I always put mine directly on the screen, but many people put them a few inches away form the screen.
If he really does "snuggle up to you and go to sleep" then Carlton is correct. He is stressed. Chams just dont do that. Also, it seems like you're searching and searching until you find something that might be the answer that you "want".

A tiny bit of orange is fine IMHO. None of my chams had solid white urates no matter how much water I gave them. All were fully hydrated.

Try and get a picture of that male with a size comparison in the photo. he looks massive! Those branches dont look to be very small, and he is man handling them. ha!
Everyone that is giving advise about the glass enclosure.. Glass is not a bad way to keep chameleons, as long as they are Terrariums, and not aquariums. They just need to be set up correctly.
