    Chameleon Tongue

30 dubias is way too many bugs daily! I'm unsure of when this becomes a concern, but female veileds can reach sexual maturity as early as 6 months old, and when we feed them too much, they produce insanely large clutches. We want to avoid large clutches as a whole, so that we can lessen the risk...

    Chameleon Tongue

Is it that she's missing completely, or that she snags them but they fall off? For the former, it could be something wrong with her eyes. When my chameleon's eye was crusting over, he missed his bugs a few feedings. Though, they can also be pretty clumsy about keeping their food in their mouth...

    Veiled Chameleon Basking behavior

I love seeing the perfectly chameleon mouth shaped bite marks on the cage plants. So cute

    Veiled Chameleon Basking behavior

Youngins are very explorative in new enclosures and so they notoriously climb screens. Often times they'll climb the ceiling too, so you'll want to raise up the lamps so the little fella won't burn themselves! Typically, we keep our basking branch 8-9 inches away from the lamp. If you got...

A proper introduction to Spooble, my veiled

I was looking into female panther chameleons beforehand but I knew they have an even bigger learning curve what with reproduction...We'll see xD Those pinks and purples though!

    Normal Basking Behavior or?

I'll keep my eyes peeled. I'm super wary of RIs as I know it's basically 100% preventable with good husbandry, so I'm always making sure there's good airflow and dehumidifying the room until the hygrometers give me a good average in the 40s% range.

    Baby nursery

I can understand the appeal. It's like gambling for lizard people. It would take a lot of research, both for the incubation and the rearing of hatchlings, as well as acceptance that it can indeed go wrong for the amount of money you pay. But at the same time...taking care of your own cham from...

Help me please!! My veiled chameleon hasn’t eaten and her eyes have been closed for a week!!

I'm sorry, she's looking pretty rough right now. Poor Pascal 😢 There's not really any home remedies once it reaches the point of closed, sunken in eyes. It's worrying that she's still refusing to hunt for her own food, too. She's dealing with something internal, by the looks of it, since her...

Help me please!! My veiled chameleon hasn’t eaten and her eyes have been closed for a week!!

Welcome back I'm sorry Pascal's still keeping her eyes closed. I was wondering, could we get an updated photo of her enclosure? Lights and all? As for natural remedies, I'm not aware of any myself and I feel anxious to suggest anything. Has she been tested for parasites yet?

    Normal Basking Behavior or?

@Beman I affixed it to the branch early in the day and then got the reading a little later in the afternoon. It's permanent now, as it is definitely beneficial to keep an eye on the reading. I'll take note of the readings and do what it takes to cool things down if the numbers creep too high...

    Normal Basking Behavior or?

I found this, which seems like it'd do the trick on days when the basking temps are too high. I know at a point, veiled males require basking temps of 85f. Not sure how old he needs to be before I make that switch. @ehdee6 I live in Alaska, and the days are quite mild, with mornings still being...

    New Cham with Bulbous Casque

That's unique. I didn't know MBD could present this way. Good luck taking care of him. If you ever have any questions please reach out here. Proper vitamin supplementation as well as the providing the correct linear UVB will be super important for him.

    Normal Basking Behavior or?

So far the probe has been reading 79-81. It may vary day to day, though. Edit: Still will look into a fan though. Is there a particular recommendation for that?

    Normal Basking Behavior or?

@regal81455 I have seen him rubbing on branches too, now that you mention it. I'll keep an eye out. I'm very not used to keeping such an expressive lizard so his behaviours surprise me a bit. @Beman I'll affix the probe to the branch and get back to you with an exact number later!

    Normal Basking Behavior or?

I did see computer fans recommended for cham enclosures. The fan is pointed outwards and not into the enclosure, right? So there's no uncomfortable drafts?

    Normal Basking Behavior or?

Oh my gosh, what a tale 😅 They're so cute when they're angry. I did poke a hole in the top for the wire to go through, so perhaps I should look into some more stealthy solutions so it won't stress him out any.

    Normal Basking Behavior or?

It's fairly new, and visible, and he was eager to climb all over it for the first couple days. I guess it's possible he could be seeing himself reflected 😓 The ambient temps are usually 75-77 farenheit, and the basking is surely a bit higher. I have a probe hanging around the general basking...

    Normal Basking Behavior or?

A few days ago, I installed a petcam in Spooble's enclosure to watch him throughout the day. I noticed sometimes, he opens his mouth while under the basking lamp. This particular moment, he seems to be getting into it quite drastically. Does this seem unusual or concerning? I haven't noticed...

A proper introduction to Spooble, my veiled

I've been to a vet about it three times. He had a sizeable keratin plug trapped in there, and after it was flushed, had all this loose skin from it. The vet's assessment is it's likely a deformity (be it an injury or from lack of supplements and uvb as he was growing) that makes him susceptible...
