I've had my cham now for about 2 months and his life is fantastic and very well regulated so that he is happy and healthy. I am hoping that he stays this way, however.....
Are there any owners who haven't gone to the veterenian. I'm not saying let the cham suffer, but are there any chams that...
no worries,
just try to see things from his perspective, u r a giant, and he could b crushed easily, treat him as ud wish to b treated if u were miniature lol
mine learned in a few weeks. keep hand feedin
yes... as i said creatures of habit, if they experience something enuf they'll get used to it.... or die. lol. just kidding let him get used to his environment the first month u have him, but be persistent. he will learn, offer hand feeeding every day!!!!.
Mine started to be jumpy right when my fingers would touch him in anyway, now after handling, i can pet under his chin, which he loves...he holds his head up for me to do it, and i stroke from his head down to his back, it's great
I feel like all living things are creatures of habit, if they do something repeatedly over and over, it becomes expected and normal.
I feel as if exposing your cham to this regimen of handling will allow him to develop a tolerance, this applied to my cham most definitely.
Ok here is the deal,
UV LIGHT- is a must have, you should get a light fixture exactly like how you would see on a fish tank, the single compact uvb bulbs cause issues. get the reptisun 5.0 uvb bulb
BASKING- you must have one, you need a dome housing to screw the bulb into, and for you id...
True....Dont like eagle claw grab him,
but mine is stubborn sometimes, they have little personalities, mine is somewhat indignant but he shows love occassionally.
* if you want to get him in your hand be patient, but sometimes i'll provide a helping nudge from behind with one hand so that...
Just an incredible collection of creatures you have there. Please pm me if you have any offspring or would like to because I would love to get a piece of what you have going on there, thanks.... epecially the parsonii :)
I just made a post about this, took me several weeks of waiting for him to even warm up to me and i have a long way to go, never grab him out let him walk on ur hand.
Also HANDFEED HIM, offer a variety of bugs on ur hand, try different things, that will establish u as a food provider and not...
That's incredible, great idea with the branch going to the window btw. I love that you can make his life better with that, lovely setup, rather industrial/modern setup with the acrylic and black and lighting setup
Is it possible to have two chams live in a setup like this, or is it not enuf...
That is F$$$ing awesome.
If anyone else has some for inspiration post some pix
I feel like this kinda stuff should be on that confessions: animal hoarding show, lol, where a pet like takes over your life, I think this kinda stuff is awesome tho.
My cham loves his freerange and getting out of his cage, is it possible that I can keep him inside and provide him a basking light and a large freerange setup that he can just live on so he never needs to go in a cage. Could i just handfeed him,
Anyone know if this is possible? / have...

So it's week 6 of me and my cham, he's a 5+ month old amilobe panther and has shed once already since in my care
I've been handling him everyday for about 5 minutes letting him crawl and explore me, and i pet him, and he has a free range he spends about an hour or two per day on.
Ive been...
I use the zoomed, which is a piece of sh$#
i'd reccomend a digital thermometer so u can measure basking spots and all around cage temp,
and most inexpensive hyrdrometers will be fine.
prolonged mouth gape is a usual sign of overheating, they usually do it to cool down, not to be mistaken with food,
worse comes to worse it could also be an upper repsiratory infection, check your humidity, basking and resting temp in the cage and make sure all is well, keep monitoring him...
The eye thing is normal maintenance for the cham, they'll rub it on branches or pop it in and out, it's quite normal.
However, usually when the chams gape it means that they are overheating, might want to give ur cham some distance from the basking lamp or the lower the heat a lil, for that...
