That's horrible. Later in life karma will get that kid back for shooting man's best friend. I would also try and figure out who it was since you should be able to talk to parents in ur neighborhood and find out who's kid has a pellet gun.
My veiled is perfectly "cup trained" and is quite the character. He tends to mount the feeder cup so it really helps come time to take him outside. My other guys i got as adults, so it's tough but my fischer's will eat from a cup as long as i'm far away. The ankaramy is still acclimating to his...
This reminds me I should pick up some supers for some variety. I've never fed them to my chams before, just silks and crickets. I seem to remember a thread where a cham was bitten by a superworm! So if I do get them i'll probably crush their mouth with tweezers or something.
I sprinkle dry cricket food (Flukers, but crack looks really good) all over, and at one end of the tub collard green or kale, romaine, any healthy green I can get besides spinach or brocoli. Maybe one or two water crystals but mainly orange slices as hydration.
I was in a similar situation with my Veiled (5.5 months). Started him at 2 months in a 16x16x30" and he started outgrowing it at 4 months. At 5 mo. I had to trim the umbrella plant and lower branches because his casque had a huge growth spurt. Now I have a XL cage on the way (2x2x4') because he...
I looked at the hardware store (home depot) and couldn't find the right type of valve to make my own, so I continue to use "the little dripper" and airline tubing. Works great.
I would say Dubia roaches if available to you. I couldn't help you beyond this since I only keep bulk amounts of crickets which I order and hatch silkworms from eggs and feed all of them off and order new eggs. Great that you are planning ahead for this, postal strike sounds horrible.
No, a dropper.
I could order one from amazon but they have to sell them somewhere locally. Maybe walmart, CVS/Walgreens, or William Sonoma/kitchen supply store. Some members here use them for hydration and I'd like to get one for my chameleons, especially my veiled since when I position...
Being new to the chameleon keeping hobby, I decided a male veiled would be perfect for me since dealing with infertile eggs/providing a laying bin, etc, seemed like one extra thing to worry about, at the time. Now that I'm familiar with the husbandry of both sexes, I'd feel comfortable getting a...
Mine looked like this when I got him at one month, then just 3 months later he got his adult barring and had a huge growth spurt in the casque and body. Very cool to see them evolve.
I really like the differences between the male and female c. calypratus. When my guy is old enough and I have the room for another crit, I want to get him a girlfriend and try breeding.
Did you just get the chameleon? Put a new panther in his cage on Tuesday and today he's still pretty dark, lightening up when he eats. If yours is still getting used to his environment it's normal. Something to consider, but still definetly provide the health info.
Keep in mind when you order silks that they are extremely soft body caterpilars, and can be pretty long and still be enjoyed by ur chameleon. The width of the worm shouldn't exceed the space between the eyes, but it can be much longer. I feel like they sent you kegos or the 2nd phaze guys. My...
