I've had the best drinking response from misting from the top of the cage down, creating a rain like effect. Start away from the chameleon, and let him see the drops and he should move toward it on his own. If not, don't worry. He's just not used to you yet and probably won't drink in front of...
You also want to have a dripper running at about 1 drop per 1-3 seconds, and a way to collect/drain water. Misting alone, if it's not an automatic mister running a few 5-10 minute long sessions per day, you'll need to drip. The dripper will be his main source of water, and the hand mistings will...
Today I got the ponazuril and gave Larry his first dose. I'll be going to home depot later to get some new cage furnishings, and somewhere....i guess a drug store, to get the hydrogen peroxide so i can begin the cleaning process. Not fun, especially forcing the poor guy's mouth open and he's...
You certainly could take the whole cage outside. Least stressful way of doing it. For when I can supervise my veiled chamaleon Larry, I put him on his free range outdoor hibiscus which he seems to enjoy. :D
[UPDATE] Ponazuril is on the way :D. Larry is eating/drinking well and acting normal as far as I can tell. This morning I gave him an "apology" 10 minute mist sess. after giving him his nose drops. The ponazuril was a special order, so it'll be here in a few days. Hopefully by his next...
that place doesn't even do in-house fecals (they send it to "a lab" and charge $100, strauss charges $20).
here you go
may be a bit of a stretch if you live in south miami, i'm north so it's not a bad drive for me. 30 mins- 1 hr depending on traffic.
I'm sure he'll make me a new cocktail of panacur+ponazuril. I actually mentioned to him at the visit that I had heard negative things about albon, to which he replied that he felt confident giving it to Larry since he was so well hydrated/ in general great condition. He mentioned another...
Yeah one google search of "albon and chameleons" and I want to throw the stuff away now. I believe it's not 100% albon but a cocktail they made at the vet's containing albon and panacur, to cover the pinworms.
I'll call Dr. Strauss tomorrow and ask him to take back the albon and prescribe the ponazuril...how do you think I should phrase it as to not insult his intelligence?
[Edit] thanks for that link for the cleaning, I will get right on that. thanks laurie i know i'm in good hands. i just wish i...
we get lots of geckos at my house, they are light pink/peach in color, and they're very cool. sometimes when i'm getting something to drink at night they will be hunting moths that hopelessly smack against my windows trying to reach the interior light.
Is it possible to get him into a vet? From what I understand chams can get subcutaneous parasites which are under the skin and visible as bumps/lines on the cham's skin. If it's damage from a fall this is something an xray will for sure tell.
Try him outside, weather permitting. Mine will fire up a lot more with all the various critters out there. Right now my veiled is outside 24/7. One sure way to get my veiled to fire up though is trying to handle him (I rarely do but sometimes it's unavoidable). He will puff up and his colors...
