Your second problem is size. That enclosure isn’t large enough for an adult. If you read you’ll see all glass enclosures are typically ok for babies but once they get older go mesh. And an adult will need much more room to be comfortable
Only problem with these all glass terrariums is poor ventilation for a chameleon. You should really have at least one side open mesh so there is air flow in the enclosure or they are at a higher risk or respiratory infections
And for everyone that’s curious....the Clearside material is uncomparable to the mesh. I had a large reptibreeze enclosure before this and I will never buy anything other than Dragon strand now. Well worth the money and easy for settting up with the Dragon ledges and drainage tray. Everyone...
The lighting I have is a 48 inch quad fixture from lightyourreptiles.com. I have 3 6500K bulbs and one pro plant bulb for the live plants. Then it has a built in timer and blue LED “moonlight” that I run for half an hour when the day lights turn off. The enclosure is massive, dimensions are...
The branches I cut off a sycamore tree. I liked the pattern of the bark thought it looked good in the enclosure but you can use other tree branches. The vines are just the large vines from the pet store or even online. I zip tied all the branches together and the plants
I have the Dragon strand Large Clearside Atrium. It’s amazing. I went with the giant one but the smaller enclosures are still awesome. The Clearside looks great when you’re looking in at Your Chameleon. You will love it I promise. Here’s a couple pics of mine
Again I’m just stating them wanting to get out is not always good. Didn’t say it was always bad either just have to learn to identify it. I knew my guy was not comfortable and wanted to get out. Therefore I upsized. Understand you Chameleon as best you can that’s all. Don’t think it “wants to be...
My Chameleon use to rush to get out in a his small enclosure....now he’s in the massive Dragon strand Clearside Atrium and he never tries getting out. His old cage was too small and he was not happy. Do not always associate a chameleon wanting to get out with being a good thing.
I’m almost at 2 weeks now also mine won’t touch his food. No interest in crickets. No interest in hornworms. He has eaten 2 superworms within the 2 weeks I offer him one everyday with no luck. 90 degree basking temp low 70s cage temps. 4 misting sessions a day....don’t know what to do
For those of you who use live plants what brand of soil do you use without any perlite. The Home Depot by me has organic soil but it still has the perlite in it. And apparently my little guy thinks those little white balls are snails or something
He did shed about 5 days ago. Still has a little peeling along his back but still....he hasn’t eaten a cricket in a full week so I get a little concerned
If it is the new cage....how long before I should be concerned? And is there something I could be doing to help? He did eat 1 Superwormnfrom my hand 2 days ago but every other time I’ve tried he shows no interest.
Well he is a male so no not Gravid. Not near a window or vent. The temperatures in the cage are low 70s during the day with an 85-90 degreee basking spot. At night temperature drops to about 62. I did move him to a new cage last week. He went from the medium size reptibreeze to now the Dragon...
He is going after the small pieces of perlite which I’ve read resemble snail eggs to them. I’ll take care of that but still concerned why he will go out of his way to hunt those and not touch the 10 crickets right in front of him
I feed him crickets. And I give him Superworms 1-2 per week. I dust with calcium without D3 every feeding. With D3 every 2 weeks and multi vitamin every 2 weeks
