thanks for all the support everyone. He's sleeping on his brach still. He moved off a bit but still hanging on...i don't like his colour and his mouth is pretty dark..it has never been that colour when he sleeps...i hope he will pull through...i am keeping it warm and humid and i did the...
i sure hope so...that pic was taken just after i brought him back from the vet (they made him black from the blood test, but when he came home, his colour came back)....the vet wants me to bring him back tom. morning for one more injection...should i get them to do an xray or anything else...
thanks for your support..the thing is, he has been eating and drinking and yet still losing weight, so that is how the vet knows for sure their is an internal problem. i guess when it's cancer in an animal this fragile, there is no hope...but for now I have his stocking hung and hopefully he...
really? so what's a "natural" age? this is fascinating to learn. And is there a way of knowing in "chameleon years" how old they really are, you know, like in dogs...they have dog years in comparison to human years?
picasso is now sleeping. He's still on his favourite spot on his branch.
here he is from today...
the thing that worries me is the area around his mouth getting darker...the vet said he may have a bit of jaundice in his mouth because it is probably his liver that is failing. I wish there...
is it common for chams to get cancer?
i know all pets can get it, but wow even in chams? do you think they just develop it naturally or did he develop it from something in the environment?
yes...there were 2 options...hospitalize for two days...or supportive care and bring him back tomorrow.
The problem is that she said he looks really bad and if I hospitalize it's REALLY expensive and then what if I'm not there if something happens to him? So she took blood work and gave him a...
I think the reason this chameleon is so dear to me in particular is bc his birthday is the same birthday as my uncle who passed away from cancer, and now Picasso may have cancer as well--talk about ironic! It's heartbreaking to feel helpless
is that only in this instance? or whenever they need rehydration?
what would it mean if his belly feels liquidy or possibly full of mucus...ChromaChameleon asked me if he had this symptom...what would it mean if he did?
do you mean children's pedialyte? that's ok to give chameleons? i'm bringing him now, so i will wait to see what the vet says, but I have given him polytonine-A in the past...it's usually for chickens, but I was told it's a good electrolyte for my female when she needs to hydrate during clutch...
was he a panther cham? i always thought mine would live that long too...not only 4. So for your cham, it happened instantly? that's why i think i might be able to save mine...his symptoms have been only for about 7 days now i noticed him slowly losing weight, but didnt realize how bad it was...
so even if he isn't ill from anything i can help, what do they look like when they die of old age?
is it the same symptoms? looks like dehydration, etc..? faded colour? sunken eyes?
well he's hanging in there, but i've been upset all morning worrying about him.
His eyes are still the same...i'm scared u guys r right...the colour looks like it's fading..... :(
He's still alert and I hope the vet can help. I'm worried the vet might just say he's too old in chameleon years...
