Those pictures are great. How long have you been able to handle him like that?
Any suggestions for getting my 3 month old to come out on my hand? He does not seem to like anything but his crickets, so offering a treat has not yet worked. Maybe I have not yet found the right treat.
Are you handling him much? My Sambava baby that I received last Thurs from the Kammers (3 Month old sired by Vincente) does not eat from my hand or want to leave his cage yet. He does love basking in the Florida sun every day and eats tons of crickets. I have found him to be much more active...
That video is great- and the music goes perfect with it. Loved it. My little 3 month old Sambava does the leaf dance all the time when he is outside in the sun, but he is a lot slower.
The Banana roaches look interesting. I am no longer 100% sure I want to do roaches. I might just stick with my crickets and add some silkworms and butter worms. After looking at the pictures of all the legal FL roaches, hand feeding a roach is NOT something that I think I am ready for. YUCK :(
I especially realize the danger of invasive species, and introducing another one is certainly something I do not want to do. But I thought I have read other posts of FL members feeding Dubias to their chams. They are so highly rated as a food source that I thought it would be interesting to try.
I just read an old post on breeding dubias in 5 gal buckets- it was great. I really want to try it, but many suppliers cannot ship to FL. It is warm enough here that I can breed them outside year round. Are there any FL members who have Dubias, and where did you get them. Thanks.
I have thought about silkworms, but has anyone tried Butter worms. The ad says they are high in protein, lower in fat, easy to keep. Sounds too good-lol
Here is a picture I just took- he did not much like the camera.
This is Fred, a 3 month old Sambava Boy sired by Vincente. I am using the photo Briana Kammer took of him just before shipping. He is doing great- marches around his cage all day eating dusted, bug burger loaded crickets- when he is not basking. However, he shows no interest in eating from my...
My little Sambava baby from Kammers just arrived this Thursday, and now he is about to go thru his 1st hurricane. Living here on an island, there is a lot of preparation. But we are ready and now I can focus on getting some pics of Fred as he marches about exploring his new world.
I really wanted to get over there, but had just returned from a vacation with 4 days on the road. It looks SOOO much better that that Repticon show I went to in FT Myers- that was the worst reptile show I have ever attended. Does the Daytona show occur every year? Are there any other good shows...
I too am very excited. I have had the cage setup for weeks. I keep adding more stuff. My husband commented that if he does not arrive soon, there won't be room for him. Do you know what size crickets yours is eating? I want to get the crickets on Wedesday.
You must be getting a Kammer baby too. My cham is arrving on Thursday also, assuming their temp in CA is below 90. I am getting a Vincente boy. I have been thinking about naming him Fred or maybe Phred based on a nice guy my husband worked with many years ago who kind of looked like a chameleon...
That is so great to see two males getting along like that. Are they similar in age, and have they been together since they were young? They are just stunning.
Chameleons were kept in captivity in the 1990's- I had a pair of Jackson's. But there was nothing like the wealth of information provided by this forum. Properly caring for these living works of art is a BIG responsibility. I spent 2 months deciding whether or not to go for it again before...
Has anyone had any experience with the B grade DIY cages- they sell them on ebay a lot cheaper with shipping included. I was thinking of using it as an outdoor cage.
