What is your gut load method?

TL/DR: Explain how you gut load / handle your feeder insects? Specifically what bins, cups, funnels, tools or tricks you do to keep the bugs under control? I am curious to know how people gut load their feeders for one or two chameleons? Do you do it in a separate bin? How do you get the...

    Puffy eyes

She's still looking better, overall. 🙂 The BSF are completely harmless; they're sort of like lazy flying ants, more so than flies. It's very unlikely that they'll breed unless you get 20+ flying around in the cage for an extended amount of time. My veiled girl would rather stick her head in a...

    Gutloading Crickets

Hey people 👋 coming back to old threads cuz why notttttt Also with the ant problem from before we don’t have thst anymore becuase it’s winter time so I can now properly gut load without having ants! It’s nice but the crickets freeze to death since I keep them outside ;-;. Luckily I have liek...

Is there any way to get rid of the cricket stink?

I just ordered a big piece of mesh so I can add more ventilation to the totes and I also might try cooking the veg’s before I feed it to the crickets.

Yes, she was tested for everything (hefty vet bill) and there is nothing wrong with her she is completely healthy, but what you're saying makes sense, sometimes I'll hand feed her and she won't budge until I shake my hand slightly to imitate like it's alive, but that would make sense, the worms...

That is strange that she refuses everything but crickets. Have you had her tested for parasites? Both silkworms and hornworms do move slowly, so it is harder to attract attention, but I would keep trying. Mine, who all love silkworms will hesitate is the silkie isn’t moving much. I will pick up...

    Puffy eyes

I'm certainly not a vet, but just IMO, I think the eye crust may be excess skin from when it was swollen. Sort of like when you get a blister and then the swelling goes down. I'd recommend the thrive feeding station I mentioned. The only way crickets get out is if they're bigger than 3/4"...

Does she look healthy including poop image

Thank you, I'm hoping your right, but I did take your advice and placed a pot in her enclosure, with 35 crickets in, there's now 5 left in the pot..... But she hasn't eaten any, they have escaped so now I have 30 crickets in her enclosure, but I'm just going to leave them in there, I cannot go...

How (humans) eating insects became a conspiracy theory

I keep cricket powder on hand in case anyone needs force feeding but no amount of ketchup could get me. To choke that down. It has some serious funk.

Is there any way to get rid of the cricket stink?

Crickets are super easy to breed, too easy as I’ve learned. I had a few banded crickets get loose and end up in my tortoises enclosure (open top) and they bred and I had a bunch of free pinheads for my jumping spood, I did get rid of them all eventually because they were so loud, being in my...

    Stuck shed/necrosis?

Its a vitamin B snack. So maybe half the feeders on that day(or all the feeders if its only 2-3 large prey) if its crickets etc. Its water soluble so you can use as much as you want, especially since its only one dose. Kinda like we can take 3000% of vitamin c when we get sick. With my tegu...

HELP! Frozen Brown Anole male! Super skinny!

Thanks, currently it is nighttime and he is asleep so I’ll try either putting a small leaf or plant in there or drop feeding him water tomorrow. Last night it was about 29-32 degrees outside so it was pretty cold for them. Unfortunately all my crickets also froze to death since I keep them...

    Panther chameleon born in Oct.

I currently have about 2,000 banded crickets and because it had gotten far too cold in my garage for them, I have had them in the main part of my house. Unless I’m right in front of their open bin, and I haven’t been keeping them clean enough, I don’t smell them. I do clean their bin every 2-3...

    Gutloading Crickets

Even though I’m in Florida, it does get a bit chilly for my bugs. I keep them in the garage. My roach colony gets a heat mat to the side of their bin so they’ll be warm enough to make babies. It’s gotten a bit colder the past few days, so I have my cricket bin sitting in my living room atm...

Anyone else got a sadistic lil guy?

So this baby is too old for fruit flies. You can stop with those. How many insects per feeding and are you feeding every day is what I need to know? And I need to know what the parasites were that they found? Not all are the same to get rid of them especially when it comes to cleaning the cage...

    Show me your feeding dishes!!

It does not prevent the crickets from jumping out but I don’t have many that do. They mainly climb the screen wall up and back down

    Bump??

You said…”I also want to switch to the bigger crickets but I still have...lots of the smaller ones. Is there a good way to dispense of crickets? I wanna ask before I either dump them in my grass or anywhere else.”…why not just keep them and grow the up, looking after them properly, so you can...
