...in your area, or maybe even a locally owned pet store. I donate my extra feeders to a local wildlife hospital.
I have discoid instead of dubia (not allowed in Florida) and I’m told they’re very similar. While they have wings, they don’t fly and are very poor climbers on slick surfaces. My...
I just wanted to share what I've learned over the course of setting up and maintaining a Dubia roach ranch as feeders for my panther cham Poppy. There's a ton of info all over the internet, but I thought it might be helpful to have the basics aggregated all here, specifically for cham owners...
Dubia only. I have about 3 different cleaner crews ive collected over the years. I just treat the bin as a compost heap. Old/left over people veggies get put in, and two days later are pulled out.
Once a year i remove about 2/3 of the frass and filter it so its fine. vertical egg crats are...
Another great food choice and chameleon healthy choice is grasshoppers. You may want to look into providing some of those as food for your chameleon.

...on the top of his casque (and also chubby looking nek)... 🤣
I am currently feeding around 4 to 6 grass hoppers every other day. I mix it up woth dubias and sometimes super worms. Supers are only as a snack.
What is the best course of action? Anybody suggesties for diet strategie?
Let me...
...actually seeing him getting overconditioned or if he still looks appropriate for a growing male.
Right now he usually gets around 4–5 medium Dubia roaches in the morning. When I'm running low on Dubias, he gets red runners instead. He's definitely not losing his appetite and will happily eat...
I think I gave my 10 month old panther chameleon a dubia that was too big. He struggled to chomp it and when I got home, he wasn’t himself. I don’t know what to do. Could a vet help or should I wait and see? Could it kill him?
...of picky with his food, but I'm giving him silkworms as treats (because they're expensive and hard to come by), as well as run runner roaches when the dubia roaches run low. He absolutely refuses to eat superworms though. So I'm trying to get him to eat as varied of a diet as he will tolerate. :)
As part of the lesser mealworm master race, its the only cleanup crew that the dubia have not eaten. So the dubia have polished off the skull cleaners and pill bugs and spring tails, but the buffalo beetles are still soldering on after over a decade.
Public service announcement, dont underfeed...
...Perhaps she was swollen overall and whatever was causing it, no longer is.
The only changes I made were that I quit feeding her the larger dubia, fed her silkworms for about a week (until they pupated) and I also started to boil the water I use for her dripper (though that should not really...
It took me like 6 months before my chameleon would even try to eat dubia roaches, I ended up having to trick him by holding a superworm up to him and doing the switcharoo when he tried to shoot his tongue out at it lol. After doing that twice he ended up realizing that they arent that bad.
Are you positive that you keep the lids closed? I had a few Dubia roaches escaped out their container a year back. All because I thought the lid was shut tightly. Nope. In the night trying to sleep in my room. I heard the roaches running in the larger flat tub that I thankfully kept the actual...
Yes take him to the vet
They are tree dweler and should not be hanging out on the bottom of the cage.
He might also be a bit scared in the new inclosher.
Try free RANGING dubia roches too.
She laid 27 eggs, which is around what she typically lays. We feed her every other day, four medium sized dubia roaches that we dust in calcium. I have attached a somewhat recent (a yearish old) photo of her cage. We have added more pothos plants recently and removed the plastic plants
