Large isopods for bioactive Cham enclosure

They’re setting in my enclosures for at least 3 years. No issues so far and also never seen them on a cham. Just make sure they have enough in there to eat. I also drop trimt leafs or death insects or veggies/fruit waste on floor, to let them enjoy a meal.

    Introduction to the community

...their eggs. I read that some use that and some use organic soil. The reason I went with the vermiculite was the monitor retention. As far as veggies? What would be out of the ordinary. And as far as all the chameleons. My plan is.to stay small. I k ow that can all be taken with a grain of...

Gravid Veiled Chameleon may be having trouble laying her eggs

So the gutload veggies would be for the bugs. You are legally required to be a bug parent too, owning so many chams :) That's what no one tells you lol Also! It's not recommended to give vegetables to our chameleons, just to the bugs they will eventually eat. As your girl is checking around at...

    Phantom leaf eater

Have you checked for other tiny pests? One fun thing (for your cham) to do to help eradicate any tiny pests is to hatch a mantis ooth in your enclosure. The baby mantids eat any pests and your cham gets some tiny snacks. I do it to help with soil gnats. Does your clean up crew have enough leaf...

    Veiled Only Wants "Junk Food"

...sugar per cup“. I still wonder why so many veiled females in particular and some species of chameleons eat vegetation and other fruits and veggies, even in the wild if there is no need for it. I’m not saying we should feed them anything but insects, but I’m not 100% sold on there being no...

Help me please!! My veiled chameleon hasn’t eaten and her eyes have been closed for a week!!

...variety of insects for your chameleon…crickets, grasshoppers, roaches, etc….and the insects need to be fed a nutritious diet of greens and veggies so they are healthy. While she is opening and closing her mouth to drink, you can place a cricket between the teeth so your chameleon will bite...

How to store these bugs?(Discord and Silkworm)

...some egg flats for them. I don’t provide water as they do get enough hydration from their food. I feed them the same fresh organic greens and veggies that I feed my bearded dragons, plus a bit of Repashy Bug Burger. I keep the feeder nymphs in a much smaller bin (currently a plastic show...

Update on Kurt Cobain (my great-grandcham)

...stuck shed. I stopped giving him bee pollen on his feeders because it seemed to irritate his eyes, so I started adding it to the crickets veggies and he was still rubbing his eyes so I stopped altogether. I filled out a husbandry form when I built his enclosure last year and nothing has...

A monkey's taste for chameleon salad?

I particularly don’t like the hyena kills. Many other animals take the prey down as humanely as possible…still not painless im sure though. Doesn’t anyone feel bad peeling carrots or potatoes or chopping up veggies. How about trimming trees or grass or flowers.

    Deadly Chameleon Myth series

...in the winter) to try and speed them up to hatch into flies. I also put them in a bigger container and feed them the same gut load cubes and veggies as the other feeders (sparingly). I'm not going to lie - it makes a mess sometimes and can stink. When it gets like this I add more organic...

    Frozen or Fresh!?!?!

I prefer to feed fresh, but I also keep a bag of frozen veggies (some mix with bell pepper, squash or something) for when I’m in a rush. I had tried making my own ice cube style mix and once it thawed, it made such a mess and the bugs wouldn’t eat it.

But haven't ordered them in a while, so I will get some ordered) Variety of feeders is always best. Adding a graphic to help...

    New Chameleon is Very Thin

Most of us feed as much as they'll eat daily up until 10-12 months of age then cut back to 3-5 insects every other day. Gutloading insects with a variety of fresh veggies as well. Spinach, kale, collard greens, carrots are a few good choices.

    Slugs in bio active enclosure

Yeah I have the same along with dwarf whites but mine are orange. So maybe they’re deep down that would make sense why I don’t see them. I have a lot of leaf litter too. I’ll try some cork bark

    Gutloading Crickets

...about all the pests getting into the house. I don’t gutload specifically, but I do keep my buggie colonies well fed a diet of fresh greens, veggies, Repashy Bug Burger and I too have the ice cubes. I put the ice cubes in some of the tiny dishes I have that were bought for my geckos or came...
