    New chameleon

Hi and welcome! You're already in good hands. An option to provide him/her the calcium is to mix it with water. I do this during the brumation period of my Parsons, because they almost eat nothing but still want her to get calcium and/or vitamins. I wouldn't anything that's dried food, dried...

    LOVE pea plants

I’m pretty sure I mean people fed veileds fruits which are highly sugary which they aren’t meant to handle so I doubt they will cause harm there’s few plants I’ve seen that actually harm veileds the peas grown here are probably going to gutload the loose crickets and fruit flies that run around...

    Veiled Chameleon staple food issue

Even though Veileds will eat fruits and vegetables this does not mean that you should be feeding them. And putting supplements directly on it means you could actually be over supplementing if your supplement has D3 or vitamin A. They actually should not be fed anything but insects because they...

    Veggies no fruits...chameleons...

Omg your post just hit on my entire existence! My male veiled leans more towards eating various vegetables and fruit. He's the healthiest and largest veiled that my vet's office has seen. Also, I personally battle candida fungal rashes. What are the chances lol

    Deciding on species

Thank you, I was not aware they could not have fruits or vegetables, all of the sites I've been to have lists of safe fruits and vegetables and lists of fruits and vegetables that are not safe. I am glad throughout the years none have had any issues from them. Plant wise, I've found various...

    Deciding on species

Welcome on here! Chameleons are insectivores and should only be fed bugs, no fruits or vegetables. Veiled do eat cage plants, so their cages should only have live veiled-tested chameleon-safe plants, as well.

    Can veiled's eat grapes?

    Thankyou!

    Can veiled's eat grapes?

Fruit in particular is really not recommended. It is loaded with sugars that their bodies do not process correctly. If a Veiled has the proper Veiled tested live plants then they will nibble as they see fit. It is believe they eat vegetation for roughage to aid in digestion. So we do not...

    Chameleon Won't Drink!!

Once I saw it was an old thread, I only read the most recent post. But yes, it is correct that chameleons are insectivores. However, only veileds have truly demonstrated that they will eat plant matter. I’m thinking there has to be an underlying reason that @Kelley Meyer has a chameleon that...

    Anyone tried vegetable plants?

It would be hard to grow vegtables like lettuce or kale because they grow in a very different climate to a chameleons enclosure so if you were to grow a vegtable you would have to find one that are non toxic and suits the chameleons climate and humidity levels

I was about to say that too😂 I mean you could offer her some of your sandwich(don’t actually)

    Is this plant safe?

Veggies and fruits aren't necessary but veiled do tend to eat vegetation from time to time, so it's important to have non-toxic/edible plants in their enclosure.

    eating fruit/vegetables?

While some veileds may eat fruits and vegetables, they have zero need for them and aren’t able to properly digest them. It’s much better to give the fresh produce to your feeder bugs. Do provide lots of safe live plants and if your veiled feels the desire, it will munch on the leaves.

WARNING ON CHOKING ON DRACAENA MARGINATA

My veiled never eats plants…. I don’t and won’t put plants and fruits and vegetables for him specifically to eat bc they are insectivores but Veileds still chomp on plants and I’m pretty sure scientists haven’t found out why yet 🤷‍♂️ but I will always have live plants so it’s LESS of a risk for...

    Gum/ mouth? Potential mouth rot?

No worries!! Thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to help me with this. I will look into the new attachments for the cage to better attach her vines. She does have a pothos and she likes it, but since I think the money tree is so bigger she focuses on it more. I will be...
